HOW TIMES CHANGE

Sun Oct 20, 2013 10:53 am

Went to Chelsea one year, it was the time Peter Kitchen scored, think we won it was a League cup match around 1985, anyway five of us went up and Beefy my disabled mate was one of them, I had phoned to ask what arrangements we could make regarding Beefy and his wheelchair and I was told just to turn up at the gate and my name would be on a list.

Well we got there, all five of us, gave my name and they just said drive in there, well I couldn't believe it , they guided us and the car right into the same corner we were in yesterday, those days there was a gap between the Grandstand and the shed, I had seen lot's of those old three wheeler disabled cars there on match of the day, but suddenly we were parked with them and I swear my front bumper was no more than six feet from the corner flag, mad.

We couldn't believe our luck, five of us got in and it hadn't cost us a penny, we had time to kill, but typical Cwmaman boys "I'm not paying that price for a pint in here, let's find a pub" I said your mental we just saved twenty quid each and you want to go out to save fifty pence on a pint, also they would have to pay to get back in.

Anyway, we spoke to one of the stewards with our puppy dog eyes and poor disabled chap in wheelchair approach, and they said "no problem" and even showed us where the cheapest pub was, hour later back in, same gate and free, sitting in the car watching the game through my windscreen, and we f*cking won, if Carlsberg did days out at football.

Gwyn it must have been before 82, that was the year I started following Cardiff and I never saw Peter Kitchen play. I went to Chelsea that season and if I remember correctly we got beat 3-0 (Joey Jones played for them that day too  ) and got pissed on as it rained all day. Sure that was the year Chelsea went up too.

I'm the first to admit I'm hopeless with dates and scores, the only reason I remember it was peter kitchen was because we had met him outside before the game, he was still living in London and had made his way over there on his own, sure some statto wil put us right later. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Oct '83 and we lost 2-0, then we played them at Nin, same season, when we drew 3-3 and it was a lively day!
