Football Manager 14

Thu Oct 17, 2013 4:47 pm

So who's got the Beta going?

I had a couple of hours on it last night played around a bit and made some shocking signings before losing 3-0 at half time to West Brom and rage quitting

Anyone doing any better?

What formations are people going for?

Looking at how the players are rated I think a 451 seem to fit best but we have about half a dozen strikers, none of which are good enough.

The transfer budgets changes got me too. I always used to bump up the loyalty bonuses and agent fees to get the wages down in the past. I spent my entire budget on one low priced player doing that last night

Went for a different route myself. Started as Wales manager. Skipped through until the summer of 2014. So now in Euro 2016 qualifiers. Got Switzerland, Ireland, Norway, Azerbaijan and San Marino in my group.

Lost first match 2-1 against Switzerland, then lost 4-2 to Ireland - Joe Allen sent off after 16 minutes. Latest qualifier I beat San Marino 5-0 away.

Arranged a friendly against Montenegro away and won 4-1. Robson-Kanu is great if you play him as a striker, scored a hattrick for me. My Wales XI v Montenegro was:

Fon Williams
Matthews Collins Williams Taylor
King Ramsey
Bale
Robson-Kanu Morison Vokes

Now taken on the Sheff Wed job as well in November 2014.

Will continue when I get back from work at 11pm :ayatollah:

I'm itching to buy it, managed to resist so far but won't be long. There's plenty of changes this year especially to the tactics I've heard.

I'm away for a month with work from next weds so intend to get royally stuck in during the time away from the wife.
Looks better than last year so any wonder kids and staff hints will be gladly received.

Last years always tried for.Mark Bowen.as assistant, Wellington nem as my main transfer

Yeah he signed for them on non contract terms and is due to play in some reserve matches for them and potentially a nothing first team game at the end of the season.

They expect thousands of One Direction fans to turn up just to watch him

The graphics are impressive this year.

I don't really want to say how good I am on it. I don't want Malky sacked and me made manager.

That's a topical joke btw before anyone gets upset. :)

Can you set your previous experience as 'Apprentice Painter' on the game?

So far sold Tommy Smith, Kev, Kiss, Rudy and bought Mcmanaman. Just played friendlies.

Noticed the seats are red so they got that wrong. And favorites to win league were man u at 16/1 so thats defo a mistake.

Seats are red? Looks like I will be using the editor to create my own blue Cardiff City starting from the Conference South then! It's a much more interesting and exciting challenge anyway trying to rise through the leagues! :ayatollah:

I've sold Campbell, Rudy, Connolly and someone else.

Brought Joe Cole, Peter Crouch, Michael Turner, Ben Davies and some brazillian in.

4 games in sitting in 4th place.

451
Marsh

CRESSWELL
Hudson
Caulker
Brayford (Catherine is poor on the game, loaned to Lille)

Medel
Gunnar
Whitts/Kimbo

Bellers
Odemwingie

Cornelius

Played 7 league games, drew v Man City! Andreas scored 6 so far and Beller's got 5 assists

Cowie and Conway gone to Derby for £800k each, bought Harry Maguire with loan back clause, Connoly went to plarase for £3m.
I advise you sort out coaching staff first!
Seems a great game so far.

Started playing today. I always start without a club and try to work my way up. Just been taken on as the Wales Under 19 manager, should be fun.

Anyone find the defending a shambles in this game? Most of the time they dont even seem to try and tackle! Hopefully sorted for the release.

No but after 100hrs experience you can tell Malky how to do his job and criticise his tactics especially after we lose.

Basically you get the game early but it will still have bugs and some parts of the game are inaccessible

They send you an email with a code you type into steam and then you can download the BETA.

It's pretty much the game just with a few bugs here and there.
