Bluebirds hope temporary switch to League One club will help development of speedy young winger

Cardiff City rising talent Kadeem Harris is set to head out on loan to Brentford.

The 20-year-old, signed by the Bluebirds from Wycombe in January 2012, has not yet burst into first-team contention, but has proved a big hit in Cardiff's development side.

Blessed with electric pace, the capital club hope a spell in League One with the west Londoners will prove the next step in his development.

The loan, which should be completed tomorrow, is set to last in the first instance until January.

This is perfect for Harris, League One is a big step up from the development but a step up which I think he will do well with. He will come back to us from this learning experience a much better player. Harris has shown he has Premiership ability already in my opinion, he just needs to improve his decision making and keep the ball a bit better. He looks good in the highlights dribbling past players, creating chances and scoring goals, but the highlights don't show him taking wrong options and losing the ball. His spell at Brentford will make him learn when to cut out these mistakes and he will come back to us a better player.

Watching him for the first time last Monday in the development game he is an undoubted talent. He must learn to pass the ball when he has gone past defenders. Perhaps a spell in the lower divisions will teach him that he cannot keep beating defenders then come back and try to beat them again.

He is a very talented player so whoever found him whether it be Malkie or Moody they have a gem on their hands. I hope our painter and decorator can cut the mustard at this level.

Harris was signed before Moody and Malky were at the club, under the helm of DJ and Ardley. I like the look of Healy too who was signed by Moody/Malky. Both fearless type players. I'm hoping that Healy proves legible for Wales at some point and want to play for us.

I actually think that League One is the right level for Kadeem right now. The key thing is to continue growing his confidence at this stage. He is far more likely to continue his excellent form a step down from the Championship. If he continues as he is, he could get a Championship loan in January. This route is less risky in regard to his development...

Don't see nothing wrong with this.

He is too good for DVP at the moment but MM doesn't want to risk him in the first team.

This could benefit him.

Kads fan here. He is always the standout player even compared to senior squad. This will definately be beneficial to his game and to brentford. Id love to have seen malky take a chance on him though just as a sub.. I mean if the mighty rudy can run out in the prem then why not kads? Will really miss watching him at the u21s though but keeping an eye on his progress

Actually you might be right. Think I'm getting mixed up with the Joe Ralls signing...

Good summary. Its the correct level of move for Harris to develope and I see a similar move for Healy and Wharton at some point for the same reasoning as they kick on. I always watch the DVP games and there's some reasonable potential talent there.

Knew his days were numbered when he didnt even get on the pitchfor the pretty meaningless cup game against west ham

good luck to the lad

Good call on Wharton. He's at a point now where he needs to prove himself at a professional level. League 1 or maybe even two? The DVP squad could benefit as there are other younger centre mids who could get playing time if Theo were to get a loan.

Kane Owen looks like he could benefit from Declan John's success. Owen also looks a good player as well after watching the last DVP game. I would also like to see John back on the wing for a few games in place of Kadeem if he gets more DVP time.

Spot on

He'll learn more from going out on loan than he will playing in the development squad, A number of players went onto have a succesful career by going out on loan

Exactly, even David Beckham went on loan to Preston at the start of his career. Every youngster needs a loan spell, it's the only way they will learn further.

What a joke. You never know if they are ready until they are given a chance. Spurs have given Townsend a chance, Leeds did with Lennon, Liverpool with Ibe and Sterling and so on. Harris is stronger than Sterling for one and has a better shot. He is not as fast but fast enough and can beat a man.

Absolute joke.

As someone has mentioned.didnt townsend go on loan? Disgrace?? Bit strong jb! The boy will get first team experience and will learn from it.come back and hopefully push for a place.or another loan perhaps to a championship club for further development.he is an undoubted talent and will gain invaluable experience at brentford imo.

Spurs gave Townsend a chance after he went to 9 (NINE) clubs on loan to get experience. Leeds gave Lennon a chance because they were skint and couldn't afford to bring anyone in, so they had to turn to youth and they then had no option but to sell him to Spurs to stay afloat financially. How can you say Harris is stronger than Sterling? Sterling has played several Premiership games, so how can you compare them? How many games have you seen Harris play at a level above the development squad?

Perhaps he can fill in for Moody in that case and recommend some unknown Serie A gems to Malky!
