Craig Bellamy: Iain Moody's Cardiff City departure 'a big loss'
Craig Bellamy says the departure of Cardiff City's head of recruitment is a "huge loss" to the Premier League club.
Cardiff have confirmed Iain Moody has left with 23-year-old Kazhak Alisher Apsalyamov his acting replacement.
Moody, who had been placed on gardening leave, was a key member of manager Malky Mackay's backroom team.
"It's a huge, huge loss for us because he's outstanding. Any club to have Iain Moody is a miles better club, without a shadow of a doubt," said Bellamy.
Moody, a former Watford press officer, joined Mackay at Cardiff following the Scotsman's appointment in June 2011.
In his scouting role he helped sign summer recruits including Gary Medel from Sevilla and Steven Caulker from Tottenham.
As a manager he [Malky Mackay] is the best young British manager out there
Cardiff denied reports they asked Mackay to resign after Moody was suspended and the former Scotland defender is expected to stay at the club.
Mackay is a former Norwich team-mate of Bellamy, who returned for a second spell at Cardiff in the summer of 2012.
Bellamy was part of Mackay's team which secured promotion to the Premier League as Championship winners last season.
And the former Wales captain has high praise for Mackay and what he has achieved since succeeding Dave Jones.
"As a manager he is the best young British manager out there," Bellamy added.
"What he's done for this club in such a short space of time is nothing short of remarkable.
"He's responsible for the connection between the fans and the players.
"I've never seen a group of fans and players united [behind] what he has done and he has done all of that.
"We're such a tight-knit group now and the discipline he's brought into the club. He's been nothing short of remarkable at this football club.
"I can only talk from a player's point of view and it isn't to me to dictate to anyone, certainly above me.
"But the simple fact is I'm very fortunate to be working with the guy."
Bellamy will bow out of international on Tuesday when Wales face Belgium in their final 2014 World Cup qualifier.
The 34-year-old has hinted previously he could retire from football altogether at the end of the current season.
But Bellamy was non-committal on his future when he spoke after Wales 1-0 win over Macedonia - his last home Wales game before international retirement.
"I love my job at the moment. I call it a job, but I love what I'm doing at the moment," Bellamy said.
"Being involved with Cardiff and being involved in the Premier League, and working with Malky as well, is brilliant. I've really enjoyed it."

Wonder how Tan will react to this if he feels CB is undermining his decision (if his) to remove IM - I would have £100 on CB for a 1st round KO

Just about to post this and I wonder if VT will listen to what Bellamy is saying.

Cant see him going back after sacking him, would Moody even want to come back now.
Would be surprised to see some kind of high profile director of football come on though to over see transfers.

Bellamy coming out with this......speaks volumes.

Surely bellers is the key for you. He's hardly going to give a flying feck about tan and is the best person out there to stand up to him. He seems to have a genuine respect for the manager and a clear passion for the club and tan knows hes a massive fans favourite.

Kind of makes the sacking of Moody look even weirder!

I love Bellamy's brutal honesty.
He doesn't care what people think of him or the implications it might have, he just speaks his mind and that's what makes the man a legend!
It's also the reason he has had so many problems at different clubs over the years.
To me the guy is a legend and always will be!

And those fans trying to help play it down as though its nothing, just to defend Tan are totally wrong on this one, Ian Moody is one of our Managers main team of his back room staff and Malky will be hurt by this and it has unsettled our club behind the scenes and made a joke of us world wide.

Does anybody actually know that Moody didn't actually make a huge mistake so that his sacking is justified?
I may have missed something here, but all I seem to have seen so far is speculation. If Malky thought that Moody's sacking was unjustified, don't you think he would have stood up for his man and resigned with him?
I know I'm just speculating too, but I was wondering.

I think a lot of our fans have been trying to make some sense out of the whole Moody affair Annis and thinking well maybe Moody have been a naughty boy....but this statement changes that for me.
I think this May be the beginning of the end.

Big thing for Bellamy to come out and say something like this.
He's stayed quiet on the rebrand, so this must be worrying for the players also.

I agree with the part that it is unsettling and not good for malky, but let's hope we get another good guy in and can get over this and be even better in the transfer market than what moody has done

His "right hand man" yet sees him (and himself) publicly humiliated!
If Malky was as close to him as it is suggested and Moody did nothing wrong then he should of walked straight away....with the football world backing him.
Football is a mercenary business, Malky plays the fans just as does a prima donna kissing the badge on his shirt does.
