CARDIFF OF MIDLOTHIAN

Sat Oct 12, 2013 11:51 am

Few years back a Lithuanian money man invested in a Scottish premier league side.
His dreams were to smash the dominance of the old firm and put Hearts on the European stage.
He invested a fair bit of money in terms of the gulf between the north and South leagues and revenues and introduced a lot European based players.
With a good backbone of Gordon,Pressely,Webster,Hartley and introduced the free scoring Rudi Skacel, Hearts went on a terrific start to the season winning their first ten matches and had the old form looking upwards for the first time in a while.
George Burley was at the helm and the fans were seeing this Lithuanians dream start to take shape.

Then as the first Edinburgh Derby approached Stories emerged of disruption and back room problems.
Talks of interference in the team selection and substitutes by The owner and other irregular decisions.

Burley was sacked the morning of the derby.Hibernian went on to win the game and inflict their first defeat of the season.
The Hearts have gone from bad to worse and have changed managers several time during.

What started so promising is now so bitter with Hearts like many Scottish teams in financial ruin, striving to survive day to day.

This doesn't even compare. Hearts are shit in a tinpot league, we're Cardiff, we're half decent in one of the biggest leagues in the world

What a small minded point of view.

Interesting take on it. There is a difference between the two leagues obviously, but when he took over Hearts the scottish game was in much better shape. The whole thing turned sour after Burley left... What might have been?
