O/T - Football... Why do we cheer for corners

Stats show the chances of scoring average out at greater than one in ten games, overseas teams now seem to keep the ball from a corner rather than lump it in the middle and weaken their defence by sending defenders forward. Conceding from a counter attack is more likely than scoring by the way...
