' Cardiff City Club official statement '
11th October 2013
Cardiff City Football Club can announce the departure of Head of Recruitment, Iain Moody. Iain is leaving the club with our thanks for his contribution.
In the interim period, Alisher Apsalyamov has been appointed as Acting Head of Recruitment, focussing on gathering data on individual players. Ultimate recruitment decisions of course remain the domain of the manager and majority shareholder.
Tan Sri Vincent Tan, the Board and the staff at the club are fully committed to the future success of the team and hold a strong desire to compete in the best league in the world.
Tan Sri Vincent Tan said, “I have every faith in Malky and his team to lead us through the challenges of the Premier League. I have supported him in the past and will do so in the future for many years to come.
“I would say to all Cardiff City fans and everyone connected to the club, let us look forward to the future and remain united in our support of the team.”

Great statement
Moody has left for whatever reason and he has been thanked for his contribution
Borat is a temporary replacement focusing on player data ( not a hard job ) until a suitable replacement is found .all final recruitment decisions will be made by tan and malky not borat !
Full faith and backing given to malky
Let's all move on to Chelsea

That statement stinks of trying to calm people down from getting on Tans back imo

"focussing on gathering data on individual players"
this is the most disturbing thing, we are supposed to be a Premiership club but we got a fecking decorator doing this job
Fri Oct 11, 2013 4:20 pm
Seems Malky is being backed which is good news obviously, but having this idiot anywhere near a senior backroom position
is an absolute joke-even for an hour nevermind on a temporary basis
I could make plenty of jokes on how he intends to "gather data on players" but it really is not funny anymore
Fri Oct 11, 2013 4:22 pm
The most interesting part of that statement is the use of the word 'focussing'. I've never seen it written in that way. I've always used 'focusing'. Thanks for listening

"gathering data" basically meaning he's basically just going to be getting the stats for Malky to look at. Easy job, even a painter could do it! Oh wait...
Jokes aside, there's nothing there about this kid doing actual physical scouting, or signing of players, so there's absolutely nothing to be concerned about right now, in my opinion. And the fact that the position is now vacant, but he's only been put in as "Acting", suggests that Malky might still have the option of bringing in his own guy still.

It's good the club has finally said something, though I'm waiting for Malky to speak about it

Exactly. Maybe Tan felt we needed to reach a higher level but get players in for cheaper.

Nothing they can say will repair things, we been broken for a while but this is the final straw, a lot of fans are starting to wake up
Fri Oct 11, 2013 4:45 pm
Thank god for that, Only temporary (acting) and Tan fully backing Malky, I hope he stays true to his word because we need unity. I just hope someone comes in permanently that can actually do the job.

Can't believe some posters on here.
A very poor statement from the club. Cannot even get the spelling right. If I was given a penny for every statement I have read like that I would be a millionaire by now.
So this "replacement" is there to collect data. Then why say he has replaced Moody? Do these guys running the show realise what a joke they have made of us. Then again do they care?

Ian, Totally agree with you, a very poor statement after the whole of the UK and even some of the World has seen that our club is run unprofessional and run like a joke club. But some fans are easily pleased by a few words.
Lets hope Malky is fully backed and left to continue to do the great Job he has done so far.

He's there to keep an eye in malky and the team. Tan doesn't like The fact malky and the team have told him to leave them alone and stop getting involved in the team. This Kazakh kid is a placed snitch

Only problem is they haven't even mentioned why Moody was placed on gardening leave...I want to hear what Malky has to say too...

I think some fans need to accept now that we are a Premier League club, the press will be out to get us at every opportunity. Comes with being a top club, and will always remain the case for as long as we are in that division. This is nothing new, and has been going on for years at other clubs. With that in mind, if half the fanbase is going to go into meltdown every time the press start spinning shit, then this is going to be a long long season.
The club have made a statement, and pretty much said it's business as usual. The new kid is "gathering data" in an temporary capacity, and Malky and Tan are having final say on all future recruitment. There we go, load of drama out of nothing. I'm sure there's more to the story, and maybe we'll never know the exact details of why Moody has been asked to leave, but I know I'll go off club statements and not newspaper reports. Anyone who goes off the latter religiously, considering how much is normally bullshit, are gonna be close to a nervous breakdown every week for as long as we are a Premier League club.
Now, as for how long it took the club to get a statement out to calm things down, that's a whole other matter. I guess this will be a learning experience for them too, in regards to being a top flight club. They simply can't wait 2-3 days to make statements when there's a media storm surrounding them like there was.
Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:16 pm
I smell bullshit and am of the mind that this is a way of Tan setting himself up to pass the blame onto somebody else for firing Malky in the future. He'll at least wait until Lim returns and claim it was Simon's decision and not his in firing the fan favorite manager. Not holding my breath that this ends well...
Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:23 pm
Not changed my opinion of the situation.
Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:27 pm
Sounds like Malky has had the dreaded vote of confidence..
Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:28 pm
Poor statement indeed. As I read it I can hear Tan dictating it with the comment "oh just tell those peasants some more shite. The dull fuckers will calm down soon .It will all blow over same as the badge, colour and Malaysian shite written over the shirt and stadium. I don't know why they kick off, after all they should be bowing down to me.

This statement is bullshit. The damage has already been done and I fear Malky will be off as soon as a decent vacancy comes up in the Premier league. Owner and manager must have a good professional relationship to suceed, and I fear this is not the case.
Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:30 pm
Awful, awful statement only attempting to get folks off Tan's back. It doesn't answer the two most important questions being asked by fans this week...
Why was Moody placed on gardening leave?
Why do we now have a 23 year-old lad formerly on work experience painting walls in the stadium as Acting Head of Recruitment?
This football club has become a joke behind the scenes. Utter bollocks.
Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:33 pm
There are some who are saying on FB the following below
Not my words/comments
But in many ways thats how football has been in the last 10 years.
" Usually the Kiss of death when the money man backs the manager!!! "
Sad state of affairs.

Agree , some posters seem satisfied with that statement . Oh well , let's just move on . Am sure tan won't drop another clanger . His relationship with mm is well and truly broke . f*cking weak unprofessional statement. Expect more shit to come
Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:37 pm
What part of our club is still united? He's split the board, coaching staff and the fans!
Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:41 pm
Terrible statement, no substance at all, also there now seems to be a spy in Malkys camp !!!
Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:44 pm
A statement made to appease the apathetic few who sold their souls and betrayed their heritage and wore red. For me, it's a liquid shit statement. The answer to the main question hasn't been answered, why was a professional replaced by a painter?
Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:53 pm
We literally have the shittest fans in the world.
The club release a statement that states the obvious for 3 paragraphs and says all the right things and all is forgiven.
This is pathetic and amateur PR. Our club is a joke. There is no engagement, creativity or thought put into anything that they do.
You should always address the issue, name the problem and offer a resolution when putting out a press statement like this. The club have not done any of these things. They have just confirmed what we all ready knew and asked for everyone to be positive, despite having the history of our club ripped to pieces and an influencial member of our staff sacked for no apparent reason.
I can't believe how our fans will accept anything that this maniac does.
He is a f*cking prick and people need to man up.
Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:56 pm
How anyone can't seen past the bullshit is beyond me!
And even worse some people are trying put this young fella being parachuted in to the head of recruitment roll in a good light!
It doesn't matter than all he'll be doing is collecting data on player's, the point is that if Moody had done something wrong and the position needed filling, Malky should have had the say on who got the job! ( and i don't think he would have wanted a 23yr old with absolutely no experience anywhere near the place )
The statement stinks of "throw something out there for the peasants" this statement's got me more worried than appeased.
If the shit don't hit the fan next week i'll be very shocked.
