Away Ticketing situation

Fri Oct 11, 2013 12:23 pm

I am getting annoyed the way these tickets are dished out.

I read that 3,000 tickets for Villa..starting with you must have been to 4 away games last season.

I am trying to plan an away trip for me and the 2 boys. We only go to 1 or two away games per season and tend to choose one a bit closer to home...but already the Villa trip is looking dodgy !

My nine year old has been an Ambo season ticket holder since he was 3..longer for the other boy (Ambo). I don't want to really go on an organised bus, as by travelling independently I can get their quicker and home quicker avoiding all sorts of shenanigans !

Is this fair on the kids or me ? just because we did not go to 4 aways last season. Is it fair that someone who has only been an Ambo for a year or so gets priority ? The new supporter creaming the ticket allocation perhaps ?

Should there not be some sort of allocation based on the length of time a season ticket has been held ?

No doubt I will end up having to tell them...sorry boys - we are deemed not loyal enough to be granted away tickets (when we were loyal enough to pay up with the other 9,997 ambos when the chips were down).

Not a rewarding situation for us at all really !

Ah sorry fella, mis-read, yeah it is frustrating although they need some sort of order to do it. Think I did three last yr so hoping they reduce the restriction. There is another debate about the buses taking up large amounts of tickets before they go on general sale. Fancy the train for Villa

They may well drop the "away game" number attended, but I imagine because of the geographical position of Villa there will be an early take up.

I can't "hang on" until the last few days as I have a weekend to plan and as a lot of people will know when you have kids your weekends get "full" well in advance.

It is not right they should miss out (the kids are the future of the club after all)

fed up of people like you moaning!

it IS fair, thats the whole point of it! the club want to reward fans who have been to away games previously with first choice this season, knowing that the likes of you who want and pick and choose what away matches you attend are taking tickets away from the people who show up week in week out.

So they put a cap on it based on the away loyalty shown in the previous season, meaning that you (or me btw, as i only went to 3 away games last season) cant get tickets away from the regulars that go the majority of the time.

Now there are individual exceptions, exiles for example, and i know before you say it that a lot of people cant afford to go to as many games as others, im in the same boat myself. But if you wanted to take the kids to an away game why not Hull? i was there and we could have done with the extra support, a fair trek but a good day out!

Basically its just tough and you cant do anything about it, take away your selfish me, me, me blinkers and see that the club are actually rewarding the fans who travel up and down the country

why didnt you choose fulham then? that was close and no rescritions, same as hull same as norwich aswell. you got understand you cant pick and choose any game this season, its not as easy as seasons gone past. also what all this rubbish about how long you had a season ticket for? THAT IS HOME GAMES ONLY, you dont get treated for away games nicley just because you have paid for a seat at home, youve got put your hand in your pocket and do most away games for that. it wouldnt be far on people who have gone every away game last year and this, then all of sudden lose out for the villa game just because someone like you goes once every blue moon

Stop having a go at the travel clubs ...ffs they can only get tickets for fans that qualify ..in the villa situation that means 4aways ..there's no special treatment ...but the club prefer to deal with one person rather than say 50 ...your obviously ill informed

Plenty of special treatment that other fans don't get.

You forgot to add they can apply for the ticket of the person who qualifies and then sell it on to someone else I travel with a travel club and its allways happened

Re: Away Ticketing situation

some interesting points there...mostly cr@p....

the point still remains that the loyal fan is being mis-treated and the Johnny come latelys are getting preferential treatment

The fact is a 9 year old that has had a season ticket for over 6 years should get some preferential treatment, even it he wants to pick and choose one game per season. Certain games that would be ideal can't always be attended, hence the pick & choose comment

I wonder if those above have been to more away games than me ? ......but there again you are no doubt more loyal than me and more deserving than the kids.

Re: Away Ticketing situation

Fri Oct 11, 2013 2:49 pm

stop bringing up the rubbish about season tickets, like i said they have nothing to do with an away game, that is completry different, there have been 2 games this season already that you could have attended espically hull, but you probs decided that was to far, but in another view if you was that desperate to take your boys to watch an away game then the distance wouldnt have been a problem, you should no games like villa, west brom, fulham, would be properley due to only up the road

Re: Away Ticketing situation

answer the question !

why shouldn't they be given preferential treatment ? are you saying they are not allowed to go to away games ?

I don't want to take them 4/5/6 hours on an away trip, I want to take them on the closer trips (they are kids - get it ?), they can only make certain games.

The length of time you have had a season ticket should count towards the allocation of away tickets. Simple.

What take up do you think there would be for that....prob very little IMO....but it would give some small reward to those that have been season ticket holders for years and fancied the odd away game. Where is the harm in that ?

I myself would struggle to get a ticket on these stupid quotas if I decided I wanted to go on my todd for an away game.

....and I have probably done more away games than those posting ....before they were born !

Yes I am, I went to more than 4 away games last season, 20 in actual fact, so yes I do.

You can't say because you go to all the home games you deserve to go to an away game over someone (be it a 1 year fan or 50 year fan) who put their hands in their pocket recently to travel to more away games than you.

Because the people who go to more away games deserve to be there before the casual away fans. Simples.

i really cant debate this with you, you are trying to tailor the allocations for away games to suit your own specific needs. this has to be one of the most self indulgent threads ive ever seen on this board and that truly is saying something.

you say the kids can only make certain games, well thats incorrect isnt it. You dont want to take them to Hull, now thats your choice but dont hide behind the little ones on that one. You only want to take them to nice cosy away games and then complain when those matches are difficult to get tickets for.

Realistically how many do you think we could sell for Villa away? 6k? 7k?

well we only have three, so how should they allocate it? obviously you would like the club to let you and your kids have first dibs, then let everyone else fight it out amongst themselves, but realistically how should they do it?

personally rewarding those who go to the most away games with the first choice is logical is it not?

you are right about one thing, the kids are the future of this, and every club. and perhaps when hes older your boy might want to go to hull

Welshie i wouldnt use the word loyal really, going to 20 away games, although fantastic, doesnt make someone a more loyal supporter than someone who went to 5, or 0. not in my eyes anyway.

Id does however, mean you should have first dibs on away tickets. how frustrated would you be as an away supporter to miss out on seeing United away for example, because tickets werent put out for sale on a priority basis?

Re: Away Ticketing situation

So it's about the number of away matches you have been to.........why only last season then ?/

what about when we got promoted to the championship..does that count ? or when we last got out of the old div 2 ..does that count ? If we add up away games attended I think I might just sneak that one (can I include all my european Cardiff matches away as well ?)

The fact is......too many newcomers are taking the tickets from those that have done their time and deserve them.

100 away tickets should be made available to long serving season ticket holders before the johnny come latelys get chance to get their hands on them....

Re: Away Ticketing situation

Fri Oct 11, 2013 4:21 pm

The present system is fair. Some away trips are more popular than others, so priority should go to fans who have been to previous away games. There will be opportunities for most fans to get an away game in, later on in the season. Not necessarily the plum games, but some of the less glamorous venues. It's nice to visit paces like Villa Park, but who are we going to see? Cardiff City. A game is a game.

Who cares if their kids, they got start somewhere, I was going to places like carlise on a rainy Tuesday night when I was 6 years old, I did this because I really wanted to go. If your kids and yourself really want to go to games away you shouldn't pick and choose you should go when you can whether its in Bristol or in Newcastle, simply

People who dont go to aways shouldnt be able to pick and choose over lads that go every week. How could it be fair if some poor sod travels allthe way to hull and huddersfield and then cant go to a near one cos someone else decides they can manage that trip.

My only grumble is if the travel groups get first dibs (no pun intended).
People should get their own tickets then book their bus. Apart from regular away traveler.
Ie if Carl, dibs, tony, vince etc have fifty people that go every time, then they can group book those fifty.

Aways to places like sunderland plymouth carlisle were great fun with the kids when they were little. We always had to join the end of the kettle in places like forest the kids loved it.
