Fan ownership

Thu Oct 10, 2013 2:01 pm

As foreign owners seem to be running clubs how they like it in a dictator fashion, ibrahomovich sacking managers faster than lance Armstrong on drugs, Hulls new owner changing their name like a rugby league club and our fantastic owner using Cardiff as a stepping stone for an Asian invasion. Does it seem fan ownership is the way forward? Should we follow the German set up?

In Germany all football teams have to be owned by the fans (at least 51% stake in the club) and it seems to be working beautifully over there. Doesn't seem to be much financial problems, bring in good crowds, cheap tickets and do very we I. European competitions.

Could fan ownership work with Cardiff? Well if we, the fans, had the money to buy 51% of the club and became the majority share holder, I believe it could work. Yes the big hurdle is in fact raising the required funds to do so but why not?

What's your opinion on fan ownership?

We're not Wrexham. You cant run a big club like Cardiff with just the fans backing.

If Tan would accept £145,000,000 we'd need to stump up £73,000,000

Over 35,000 people that would amount to roughly £2,100.

If the economy was on the up some nutters might invest some rainy day money but thinking we would ever hit that is a pipe dream (a big f&cking crack pipe dream(

Rubbish. If a club is run properly then foreign investors are not welcome and not needed. There is enough income from this league to run a club wisely. But thats they key. While you lot will mock huw for not spending money you all think its great to spend millions on bull shit like big screens. Problem is summed up in you second sentence. Big club? Really? Or a average sized club who has ideas for ahead of its current state. You have spent millions you didn't have for at least 10 years in the theory you have either a divine right or are a big club. You all lapped up sams rubbish and lost all sense of reality. The result is what you have today. You accepted a mad man because he was minted without any care of the repercussions.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Rick Wright advocate the same sentiment of fan ownership of Cardiff City FC, shortly before he severed all ties with our club? If i remember correctly, it just didn't happen,,,for one reason or another.

That was twenty odd years ago mind.

It could work if the FA heavily backed it in the Prem. However, as of now there is no chance for us as we don't have the money to buy out Tan
