Newcastle United top Premier League table of arrests

10th Oct 2013

Newcastle United are finally top of the table, but only in terms of how many of the team’s fans were arrested last season.

The club overtook Manchester United at the top of the crime league for the 2012/13 season, published by the Home Office, with Manchester City and Chelsea completing the top four.

Magpies fans will take little solace from the league table, which follows a chaotic year at St James’s Park that culminated in scenes of violence and dozens of arrests in last season’s Tyne-Wear derby.

In terms of banning orders, Cardiff City are top with 123, followed by Chelsea on 110 and Manchester United on 91.

In both arrests for last season and banning orders up to September, Fulham are ‘bottom’ of the table.

Premier League table of shame (number of arrests in 2012/13 season)

1 Newcastle United 175
2 Manchester United 145
3 Manchester City 95
4 Chelsea 92
5 Sunderland 71
6 West Ham United 67
7 Arsenal 53
8 Aston Villa 51
9 Everton 44
10 Liverpool 36
11 Stoke City 32
12 Tottenham Hotspur 32
13 Southampton 23
14 Queens Park Rangers 20
15 Wigan Athletic 18
16 Swansea City 13
17 Norwich 12
18 West Bromwich Albion 10
19 Fulham 9
20 Reading 9
