Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan calls for bonus rift unity and details Steve Borley, Paul Guy and Mike Hall share buyout

Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan is on course to complete a 98 per cent buyout of the club, by buying shares off former chairman Steve Borley and investors Paul Guy and Mike Hall

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan says he will own 98 per cent of Cardiff City next month

Vincent Tan has spoken publicly for the first time on reports of a rift between himself and senior Cardiff City stars over bonus payments.

And as the spotlight falls on the club’s majority shareholder following a week of off-the-field headlines, Tan has called for unity as he revealed he has begun the process of buying out other shareholders – including long-time City board member Steve Borley.

' Vincent Tan is set to buy shares owned by former chairman Steve Borley '

National newspapers ran articles claiming the majority shareholder at Cardiff City Stadium was allegedly banned from the home changing rooms because of unrest from the players over the level of bonus funds to be paid at the end of the current Premier League campaign.

But Tan today spoke out to give his side of affairs, stating that there was no need for any dissent amongst the ranks.

“It’s not right that private details concerning our senior squad retention of status bonus were run in (London-based) newspapers,” said Tan in a statement which was asked to be published in its entirety.

“And what frustrates me more are veiled suggestions that our bonus schedule at Cardiff City is in any way substandard compared to similar clubs of our level. That I can guarantee is not the case at all. This is clearly a case of someone trying to create mischief.

“I consider our retention of status bonus to be fair, although I won’t divulge actual numbers in public and in print, as doing so would be unethical and could also breach Premier League rules.

“But supporters should know that our players are by no means treated unfairly or given a poor deal, far from it in fact. The figures suggested in one of the articles was the base minimum on our performance scale, which would obviously rise in line with our final league standing.

“I don’t want there to be any perceptions of unrest behind the scenes, as we all know the job of Premier League survival is hard enough for a newly promoted club without added distractions and off-field issues.

“Yes, things change at football clubs, much like they do in all organisations and businesses, but we carry on and do the best we can for the good of the club, which God willing for Cardiff City is to remain a Premier League club for as long as possible. That’s our goal.

“By nature I am a generous person. I personally initiated the Thanks a Million donation, which in August of this year we donated £1m to local charities and I have pledged that so long as I am the majority shareholder and so long as the club is in the Premier League, then this donation of a minimum of £1m will continue each year.

“On the field I respect and admire the skills our players have – and more than anyone, following the level of financial and personal investment made at the club want to see them at their absolute best, week in, week out.

“I have already invested a substantial £125m and will invest an additional £15m this season because of unbudgeted costs connected to new player signings, a total investment of £140m. I have personally donated a great deal of money to Cardiff City and have already signed a Share Purchase Agreement and paid 10% deposit to buy out minority shareholders including Paul Guy, Steve Borley, Mike Hall and others, which on completion, next month, in November would see me own approximately 98% of this club.

“I’m the majority shareholder, but also a supporter of this great club – and alongside fellow supporters look forward to the rest of the season ahead. Like all supporters I also want to see Cardiff City finish as high in the table as possible, which would offer great satisfaction and rewards for all.”

There's the answer to the moody situation, he was a leak. Love how the usual suspects put their spin on things

So he will own 98% of the club within the next few weeks yet some people seem to think they're going to be able to force him out over this scout dismissal!

You don't get put on gardening leave for gross misconduct in any company . "A leak" - laughable .

there's the reason for the suspension of Moody then, good to see quotes from Tan which give us a better understanding of the situation! if it's the reason then he's right to put Moody on suspension if he's leaking info to the press, but to put a family friend with no football experience in charge of the recruitment, idiotic!

Umm yeah you do? I know plenty of people in my work place that have been suspended pending an investigation. Basically waiting to be sacked once they get the facts in black and white.

Gardening leave, thought he was suspended, I'm guessing for a couple of weeks before final disciplinary and dismissal, where's gardening leave quoted?

BBC Sport's Pat Murphy reports that Moody has now been placed on gardening leave until the end of the season, while replacement Apsalyamov was painting the walls of Cardiff City's stadium this summer on work experience, and watching the club's promotion run-in on his laptop.

Good for Tan. Good for us. As long as the team performs I don't care who owns or runs the club. :malky: :ayatollah:

He has come out with this statement as he knows he is losing support fast
There's not much he can say now to change my mind
He could buy Messi, but if that awful badge stays and he continues to play us in red at home and not even sell the blue away strip then he's the worst owner in the history of football. Open up genuine talks and compromise fairly
It's only right to give fans a say who have supported our club for ever !!!!

He'll bring your club to it's knees.

Too late for that. Happened a long time ago I'm afraid

He doesn't care about you or the next Cardiff fan and the only thing he cares about is his pocket the f*cking slit eye mother fucker. He's probably laughing at you all and calling you all mugs.

I hate the bloke and would put one on him if I ever met him. These people are vermin and need to be eradicated. The only way he'll be defeated is by Fan power, only you lot can kick his arse back to the far east.

to be honest . i dont think my boss gives a f**k about me, but as long as im making him money he puts up with me. and i would say that applies to 98% of us on here

he don't care what the fans do, as long as he makes money he don't care! if a boycott of games happened he'd still get way more from advertisement and TV deals

Problem is that the hardcore fans would probably stay away but you'd have the plastics still turning up and that what Tan cares about more than it true fans who have followed the club through the dark days and still will be following whatever division they're are in unlike these plastics.

If I was a Cardiff fan then I wouldn't attend any games, why? Just the colour change would have done it for me.

sorry but what? so people are plastics cos they still follow the side after the colour change? people accepted it for the good of our club to become financially stable (which looks likes is about to happen by next month) you see other teams fans saying 'i'd stay away if it happened to my club' but i'll guarantee the majority who say that wouldn't! football is a huge part of peoples lives and for that to just completely go would be to hard to handle for most people!

Of course, the irony being the main thing he's added is stability.

Also here's thing about the Tan out argument. Who's going to replace him? You? That clown from Jersey? Who?

What other club would put up with the bullshit this slit eye baffon? I can assure you that we wouldn't and they'd be riots that I can assure you without a doubt.

Newcastle fans went mad because there ground got renamed from St James Park to sport direct and they changed it back because there was outrage. Could you imagine Newcastle fans accepting their black and white strips being changed to red? It would be bedlam and mayhem. That's just one team.

See people like yourself miss the point completely, Gay jokes aside then at least we the fans said no! don't take us for mugs and they did so we went on the rampage for a good year, pitch invasions, running battles with police and away fans, we caused mayhem to get the FA attention and they still ignored us so we took direct action at the york game, smashed the ground up.

We wouldn't allow any tin pot slit eye money grabbing 4 eye cock to take the piss and I suggest you wake up because if you don't then your beloved club will go down the shitter.
