Qualifying Criteria for International Games

The situation is becoming more ridiculous with regard to players being allowed to play for countries to which they have no ties (birthplace/parents etc)
Scottish FA have just announced that some guy, forget his name, can qualify for them as when he was a kid he went to school there for 5 years.
This makes a mockery of encouraging our own kids to aspire to play for their own countries when someone who is "better" but with no family connection can take his place
