Paying the price for underestimating.

Sun Oct 06, 2013 2:49 pm

That's all that was yesterday. The players paid the price for underestimating their opponents. Something they cannot repeat on a regular basis. You must be ruthless and clinical to survive in this division and that 1st half we were anything but.

Newcastle are littered with quality right across the park and only a fool would be completely stunned at a loss yesterday.
They show signs of panic when you attack them but if you allow them to play then they can hurt you. But that is the same for almost every team in this division.

If we stand back and allow them to play we will struggle..
After the Man City game many thought Cardiff Away will be really tough, sadly the truth is Newcastle and Spurs have shown you can batter them at times. Even the Everton game we allowed them far to much.

We are still learning and finding our feet in this league, but we cannot afford to take the same theory and style into every match, or we will get thrashed.

Nothing is expected from Chelsea next week and hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves.
No point dwelling on what happend in the last match as the next one is far more important. One game at a time :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

With respect I disagree. I think we gave them too much respect.

They are littered with talent across the squad and Malky was facing his former boss, we were almost subservient.

At home we can have a go at all teams coming here except the top 6. We have faced 3/6 and came away with a win, loss and draw.

We need to sacrifice a holding midfield player for a more attacking option.

We are not be outclassed by the mid ranking teams, which is something to hang on to.

Fair point Llan but even the likes of Palace and Hull have a threat about them going forwards,if we invite them on us then we are asking for trouble.

Would have been 8th if we'd win.

How is us giving them time and space to attack underestimating them?

First line of post "PLAYERS PAID PRICE FOR UNDERESTIMATING OPPONENENTS"
Toons poor form is what lead to our complete underestimation of there ability.

Us giving teams no time to play is common sense. Swansea for instance play possession football,if we go into that match like we did against last few home games we will get hammered.

If Malky is determined to play this defensive tactic then the players must hunt everything down from first to last whistle...

I still think we have predominantly championship players trying to operate at prem level.Malky said at the beginning of the season that the whole squad will be given the chance to show if they can operate at his level or not and I think that process will continue for some time to come yet.He may also have to demonstrate to tan that some of the players are not good enough at this level before Tan releases more funds.I think also that the Hammers win at Totenham yesterday just goes to show that just about any team can undo another on the day.

how are you in a position to tell that the players were under-estimating Newcastle then?

Even the bookies underestimated Newcastle, they made City favourite, I think most people underestimated them, but they were there to be beaten and either we played terrible, which we did the first half or they over performed on the day. Its going to be a tough season as Newcastle to me are no where near like a top 10 Premier League club and in the first half they smashed us and we can only once again thank David Marshal

Paul at 3k + posts I would've thought you understood the platform of this forum.

This forum allows posters (that's you and me) to post our own opinions and thoughts on subjects.

That's how I'm allowed to post that they underestimated them, and as Annis has shown even the bookies had a home banker...
