I think you'll find Tan is the one out of his depth not Malky

His tactics were wrong first half today for the first time this season in all honesty , half time he made a change and could have won the game for us if we were more clinical as we were fantastic at times . One mistake ? So what he's only human he's done a fantastic job and he's learning as we all are

keep it up malky

I guess you didn't watch Match of the Day, then. The England manager (Roy Hodgson) manager heaped praise on Malky by saying he was 'ready' for the Premier League and even Geordie Shearer had to agree
Not sure what it is with you, but I really do find your bitterness towards anything positive at the CCS quite sad

I felt the Hodgson/Shearer comments were to premature.
I understand Angelis feelings at the moment and lets be honest he is not on his own. He has support from some of the more knowlegable posters on here.
Tensions against Malky will ease off once we are a bit more comfortable. Yesterday was a great chance to do that but we failed big time. Expect the criticism from the Malky doubters when this happens. They in return can expect the snide comments when things look good.

Yesterday's first half performance was well below what we expect and no doubt what Malky expects but to say he is out if his depth us going over the top.
Yes I agree that the tactics employed are not the best in certain games but we know Malky plays a defensive approach to games but to be calling for him to be replaced is ridiculous.

The second half saved Malky a slaughtering.
Calling for his head is over the top and a bit unfair at the moment. However he is far from out the water but then again what manager is.

Who would you replace him with?

yes we were poor in the first half yesterday but we came out in the second and dominated the game and should have got a point, mm is learning all the time i went to west ham and i thought we were going to get stuffed in every game but he learned from that and we were a different team againist man city he will have learned from yesterday and be a better manager and we as a club will be better for it

You're doing ok at the moment. Not great yet not like Palace.Makay is a good manager but doesn't have the personnel at his disposal to do anything other than defend and counter attack. With a few more signings in january you could see yourselves set out differently and employing a plan B.
Saying he's out of his depth after a handful of games is ludicrous. He was like Bob Paisley on here last week after the Fulham game, today he's more like Bob Hope.

Of course this is new to him, but its not a four year apprenticeship. He better learn quickly. In every challenge to date he has adapted well to set backs.
Yesterday was the first match we started as bookies favourites, not by much, but still favourites. He needs to learn to go for the jugular and not be so cautious. I think in malkys eyes Newcastle are not in our mini division so treated them with too much respect....
Making the same mistake twice will hurt us.

In my opinion this is Malky strength. He seems to bounce back very quickly.
Under Dave Jones a performance like the first half would mean a long stretch of games in the same mode. Malky seems to turn it around within the next game although yesterday showed he could do it at HT. Just got a feeling we could get a result at Chelsea.

It will take time for the team to adapt to the prem, Doesnt matter who you play in this league you are going to get punished for a tactical mess up as we did in the first half. To be fair Malky spotted this and changed it in the second and we were the better team and could have got the draw.
Malky himself knows where he went wrong in the first period and im sure he would have learned a harsh lesson from it. The players he has brought in are of good quality but untill he knows the best way to play them all we will have to be patient. I think the good start we have had with wins against Man city and some good preformances has put a unrealistic hope in many of our supporters heads too. We need to be realistic and a good position for us in our first season would be around mid table which I think Malky will achieve. There is enough shit going on within the club, without getting on the managers back.
So in short
IN MALKY WE TRUST
Sun Oct 06, 2013 11:47 am
Bet you were the guy in the Canton yesterday shouting f**k off Malky you c**t, you're gonna get us relegated. Can't be dealing with fans like that
Sun Oct 06, 2013 12:21 pm
Lack of width and we are defo lacking in the striker department. Why Noone hasn't featured is a mystery to me. And we dont have the correct type of striker to play to Malkys tactics. But calling for his head is Madness.
Sun Oct 06, 2013 12:38 pm
Agreed. He should go. He's our Paolo Sousa and just likes to defend and try and grab the odd goal here and there.
Sun Oct 06, 2013 1:06 pm
Pardew summed it up when he said it was the best 45mins he'd seen Newcastle play since he took over and that Malky is doing really well with what is basically a championship squad plus a bit of quality in certain places.I find it laughable that some fans think just by setting a team up a certain way we'll start blowing sides away.We got tuned in the first half yesterday and not for the last time either.Don't people think that fact that Angelis 49 only posts after a cardiff defeat and then only to rubbish our manager is a bit strange and then the fat,sad student supports him and visa versa.

He's made mistakes and he'll learn from them, the same with certain players.
It's not all down to the manager, in my opinion. Some of our players let us down yesterday. I'll expect much better from them next time out.

This is our first season in the top flight for over 50 years and it was Malky (assisted by Tan's £millions) that got us there after others (notably DJ) failed for whatever reason. It is also his first shot at the big league and I think a little patience is the least we can afford both him and the team at the moment. I am pretty sure Malky will learn from the result (particularly the first half performance) and hopefully we will maintain and improve on our (overall) steady start to this historic season
There are many knowledgeable members on this MB and many differing opinions. Only time will tell who is right but IMHO now is not the time to be declaring "Malky is out of his depth" as to date he has probably done as well (if not better)than most could have expected
