CAMPBELL NEEDS MORE QUALITY

Sat Oct 05, 2013 5:06 pm

We just didnt show up first have , I dont think we had one shot on goal.
Campbell was really starved of quality ball, he was making runs ,but the quality ball that any strikers need just wasn't there.

What was good to see was Mutch going forward and taking on players with the ball at his feet, this is something we need to see more of.

I would have taken Campbell off cos you could see he was so frustrated ,and I would have sent Odem in in place of Campbell
on brought on Beller in Odem place, and also taken Gunns off and put Mutch in . But of course we lost Kim :-( .

Lets hope the real Cardiff City Starts at Chelsea , and of course at our next home game against the Jacks

I would have brought of Gunner, swapped him for Whitts and brought on Bellers or even noone although I think is is also too lightweight.

And definitely would have swapped Mutch for the massively unimpressive Kimbo.

Roy, Personally I dont think Campbell is good enough, also his first touch is awful and I can not believe Malky has him on his own upfront for home games :o :o

In my opinion at this moment in time it doesn't matter who plays up front because the way we are set up at home means we are hardly managing to get an effort on target. Only 2 efforts on target today, none against spurs and only 1 against Everton.

We seem to be committed more to containing our opponents than playing a more open expansive game. I could understand it against Man City, Spurs and Everton but today a Newcastle team who have been struggling made us look slow and laboured. Mutch made a difference but you simply cannot give teams a 2 goal start in this league and hope to get something out of the game.

Our big problem is that we don't have a 20 goal a season striker, they way we are setting up we probably don't have a 10 goal a season striker. This is going to make survival a huge challenge in my opinion and right now with the run of games we have through October / November we may well be playing catch up by the time we reach December.

The players, as usual, never gave up today but in my opinion in this afternoons game we saw the difference between a team of mainly Championship players working hard to make the transition to the Premier League and a team with plenty of pace, power and Premier League experience.

I think we are no better than a bottom 5 team and the big question is will we play the same system against the other teams like Palace etc who will be with us at the bottom end of the table. Of greater concern is do we have the forwards who will score the goals to win what I believe will be matches where the outcome of our season will be vital.

You would have left whitts on and also brought on bellers? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not sure either of them are interested really, but each to their own.

Campbell isn't as good. He should be starting on the bench with Odemwingie playing upfront, possibly alone or with Maynard. I'll be glad when Cornelius is back. Mutch must start against Chelsea, he was the only player who was willing to get forward today. Bitterly disappointed today. Should've at least got a point going into it, deserved nothing though.

I must agree that his first touch is not the best, but have we really seen his best when he is always on his own?
I would have thought to be honest that Malky would go more out for the 3 points at home.

I dont think we had one shot in the fist half which shows we are not going forward enough,we need goals to survive, and were not going to get them without more of a strike force up front and more speed down the gullies so we can get in around the back of defenders.

We play awful down the middle in open play. Most of our goals either come from set pieces or from wide positions.

"20 goal a season striker" - are you mad? how many of them do you get as a bottom half team?

If someone from that selection makes 10 goals that's a hell of an achievement. what you do need though is strikers who can hold the ball, Campbell cannot.
