Can't see the England set up putting up with his hoofball nonsense. Kiss goodbye to your cap.

Lot of the times he has no choice through lack of movement from wide midfield. but it fucks me off when he does it and theres better options

The bottom line is he just isnt Premier League standard, what does Hudson have to do to get a chance. At least he would bring more composure and experience to the back four.

It's the only tactic we ever play. We have never been able to play proper football, and we always end up scoring via some luck or set pieces.

It's the complete lack of open play tactics as well as the lack of creative players that mean that's all we do is hoof the ball in the box. Just look how lost they all looked today. Even after going 2-0 down we still couldn't pass for shit. Players never come to the ball, AND EVERY SINGLE TIME IT GOES MARSHALL---TURNER----HOOF----LOSE POSSESSION.

If we keep this up, and don't improve our open play style, we're down.

At long last, people are asking questions about our tactics. Turner gives possession away all the time with his ooof balls, but it comes from the training ground under the guidance of malkey. It might take time but people will soon see through malkey and his lack of knowledge and understanding at this level.

Turner is a no nonsense defender first. newcastle mobed us up front, stopped the easy ball to Medel so Turner hoofs it.

If it is no predetermined as the second option, why is Rudy in the first team squad.

Newcastle closed us down on our 18 yard box and hassled us on the full back positions, they did it very well gave us no space, fair play to them. I hate to bring the jacks into a thread but why the f**k premier league managers haven't sussed that is the way to play them, is beyond me.

David Moyes and Lambert sussed it. Don't worry Jacks, malky won't let three players that far up front at home.

Malky must be asking him to do it, not sure why.
Marshall even looks for him.

The Ben Turner hoofball ...........arrrghhhhh. So frustrating to watch and has been going on for a couple of seasons now. It happens so often that it must be on Malky's instruction as if it wasn't he'd have been dropped by now for always giving the ball away.

And its always a hoofball, never a "long pass" !!

He stopped doing it for 20 minutes in the second half and we looked like world beaters. Then the atmosphere flattened a bit and he started the long ball again. Makes no sense :s

Bit over the top some of this lads.

He plays decent short balls when they are on, problem is there is normally nothing else on.

Should have heard the moans when he passed it back to the keeper ! Can't have it both ways.

Movement was poor today, especially in the 1st half.

Yes, he goes long a bit too often, sometimes it works, when we win the 2nd ball -again not much in the 1st half but a fair bit in the 2nd. Don't make a scapegoat of very good player, who after all has a main remit to defend, which he is very, very good at - I don't reckon Remy would have got the space he did for the 1st goal if he'd been up against Turner instead of Caulker.

As for the calls for Hudson. 2 years ago lots of you wanted him sold off and Gerrard, Keinan, Gyepes, Blake etc.. playing instead of him  I defended him too, against some ridiculous and unwarranted criticism, but one thing I never stated in his favour was his distribution, because that's certainly not his strength.

Hudson is a very good centre half, but Turner is bigger, stronger, faster and better on the ball than Hudson.

The back 4 are a young group. Ave age about 22-23, they are going to need our support this year, it'll be a steep learning curve against some of the best strikers in the world. They have done pretty well so far, it'll be a shame to see our own fans get on their backs.

Still a great defender.
