DROP CAMPBELL

Not good enough at this level. Hasn't scored since the City game.

Time to give Maynard a go.

He's not a lone striker either play him with someone upfront or id drop him too he's needs someone next to him to get full potential out of him.

That's a good point to be fair, maybe he'd be better with Maynard there too.

Either way, gotta do summut.

Think he'd do well with Cornelius up front. Someone to hold the ball up and play him in. Looks out of his depth up front on his own.

Doesn't hold the ball up well enough to play on his tod.
Agree he def needs someone with him to play off. Turners hoof will not give him many chances.
Hopefully Cornelius will make a difference. Until then we either give Frazier someone to hold his hand or bench him and let Rudy play solo.

didn't like the way he went straight down the tunnel when he went off either. He should have parked his ass on the bench and supported the rest of the lads.

Time to drop waste of space Whittingham too, no where near Premiership standard

Re: DROP CAMPBELL

Campbell is shit... End of

Let's be honest, my 70 year old mother could've scored the tap-ins he's scored so far.

Maynard isn't the long term option either - good from the bench as something different, but not Premier league class in my opinion

Re: DROP CAMPBELL

Needs pace, quality but most importantly strength around him. It's why he was better with Mutch than Kim more muscle in that area. He did really well with Bellamy as a front two which may be an option but Malky won't pay two up front even whine chasing the game so fat chance.

Can't say he's not good enough. Feels like we're asking him to play the role kenny miller wasn't suited to

Re: DROP CAMPBELL

Mon Oct 07, 2013 9:39 pm

It's an almost impossible role.
Even Salado has struggled in a good sours team to do it.

I think campbell has done alright, finishing a little off but he is running himself into the ground so it's no surprise he isn't at his sharpest when a chance comes around.

I don't see what maynard would bring to the table over him. Tbh I'm feeling maynard isn't up to it, doesn't offer enough the way we play.

Re: DROP CAMPBELL

Mon Oct 07, 2013 9:52 pm

Simple enough.

Put Noone or Bellamy on the right, Odemwingie up top.

Re: DROP CAMPBELL

Mon Oct 07, 2013 9:52 pm

Seems like he's getting pissed off at getting subbed but what can you do when you're playing a lone role. Either go all out and reluctantly play him alongside Gestede for more attacking fluency or at least when Cornelius is fit, try them both together

Re: DROP CAMPBELL

Mon Oct 07, 2013 9:54 pm

Also Maynard?! NO WAY NEAR the answer, actually a shitter version of Campbell, Campbell has way more pace on his side, actually has more all round to his game too

Re: DROP CAMPBELL

Oh dear god! I bet those asking for Campbell to be dropped are the same fans who were slagging off Kenny Miller for running his balls off on his own with little service! Campbell runs his guts out for us and aside from Hull, every team we have played against so far has been superior to us, having more possession than us, attacking more than us etc.

Campbell has had to feed off scraps so far, the amount of work he puts in to chase defenders and midfielders to win possession back and then get back into an attacking position after running his balls off to win possession back for us in the first place doesn't go unnoticed from me.

Yes, Campbell has missed the odd chance and has had the odd heavy first touch because he runs himself into the ground and is knackered. So what! The only reason we have the majority of our attacks in the first place is because of Campbell's work, some of you really need to learn the game and not slag our strikers off just because they have gone a few games without scoring!

Agree entirely. Miller was promised a target man and not given one. He was so nsung it was unreal! Agreed entirely regarding Campbell, he still picks up the pieces and does the simple things well, just because we've lost three games, one being away at a fortress, one being against title contenders and another where we completely underestimated them, it's time for doom and gloom. It's incredibly silly. He admitted himself he wasn't good Saturday and wants to write them wrongs. He's not a lone striker but when called upon he puts in a shift

I def dont think Campbell is good enough, Maynard hopefully better, but u cant expect any of them to do it on their own.

So, out of interest, are you proposing going with 2 up front?

Re: DROP CAMPBELL

Malky won't play with two up front but then again who really does? Nearly all teams play with a second striker but the problem is with us is that Kim who is usually given that role is all over the pitch at times.
We need to get him or Mutch a lot closer to Cambell.
Watching Kim on Saturday one minute he was helping out at right back the next he was over on the left wing. Admirable but no help to Cambell.

This ,none of our strikers are lone strikers ,so don't know why Malky wont change the system we play

Re: DROP CAMPBELL

Tue Oct 08, 2013 9:35 am

Darren what do you suggest? You can't start with two out & out strikers so you need a second striker who drops off but can get closer to him as we'll & not leave him isolated.
Who have we got?

This is the daftest quote yet. Maynard can't play the lone striker role IMO, he's much more of a poacher type & hasn't got the pace for it. Maynard playing off someone yes maybe.
