Lappin joins sheff utd on loan -( official )

Cardiff City's Simon Lappin has today joined the Blades on an initial 28-day loan.

The 30-year-old can operate anywhere down the left and goes straight into contention to make his debut against Crawley Town after international clearance was confirmed.

The Scotsman started his career with St Mirren and made close to 200 appearances at St Mirren Park, prior to moving south of the border to join Norwich City in January 2007 for a reported fee of £100,000.

Capped by Scotland at U21 level, Lappin signed a two-and-a-half year contract at Carrow Road and was a regular under Peter Grant.

Having not featured much when Glenn Roeder was in charge in Norfolk, the versatile performer became a regular again under Paul Lambert and started 42 league games in the 2009/10 season, more than any other player.

Lappin's prominent role continued the following season and he signed a two-year contract extension, shortly before being ruled out for a number of weeks with appendicitis.

In November 2012, Lappin joined Cardiff City on an emergency loan until January; he then completed a permanent switch to the Bluebirds having left City by mutual consent.

On his move to South Yorkshire, Lappin commented: "I am really looking forward to the challenge and this is a great opportunity for me personally.

"I want to play some games and help the lads out of the current predicament we find ourselves in.

"When you aren't playing at your club, going out on-loan is a fantastic option, but first and foremost I just want to contribute to helping the lads."

Wish him well. Only saw him play once, away to Birmingham, when Taylor was ill. Lappin had a good game, in what was our fourth straight win over Christmas and New Year.
