Manager Chris Coleman says James Collins "got it wrong" by denying that he had refused to turn up for Wales.
Collins contradicted Coleman's claim the West Ham defender had turned down the chance to join the squad as a late call-up prior to September's game against Serbia.
The centre-back has not been included in the squad for World Cup qualifiers with Macedonia and Belgium in October.
"I was disappointed and I think James got it wrong," Coleman said.
Coleman claims he invited Collins to join the squad for the qualifier against Serbia after suspension and injury had ruled out defenders Ashley Williams and Sam Ricketts.
Collins denied Coleman's suggestion that he refused to play for his country, but the Wales manager is sticking to his version of events.
"What happened is exactly what I said - I'm not going to make something like that up," Coleman added.
"I've known James a long time and he's a good boy. [I've got] no problem with him personally I just think on this instance he got it wrong.
"James was upset and that's alright but there's a way of dealing with things and a way of doing things and I just think he got that wrong.
Although Collins has been left out of the World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Belgium, Coleman said it did not signal the end of his international career.
But Coleman added it was up to the former Aston Villa and Cardiff City to make contact with him.
"I'm not going to close the door on James or anybody else. It's for James to come and see me," Coleman added.
"That's not a conversation we're going to have over the phone and it's not going to be a five minute one.
"It has to be a sit down for me, man to man and let's have a conversation.
"He can tell me what he thinks and I'll be telling him what I think.
"If we can go forward after that, then great. I never say never and I never shut the door on anybody.
"We haven't got enough players to do that but where do you draw the line? I don't think we can accept that.
"I've got my principles and I'm not going to change them."

Collins has every right to be angry. Every right.
To not be picked in the squad in the first place over a donkey like Sam Ricketts. Behave yourself Coleman.

Coleman acts like a spoilt brat worst welsh manager ever.

Everybody is jumping on Coleman's back at the moment, rightly or wrongly, but on this occasion he might just be telling the truth, Collins hasn't bent over backwards for Wales the last few years under Coleman or Gary Speed, lets not forget Darcey Blake was first choice for Speed and he wasn't in our starting line up?

He might be telling the truth - but what the hell is he raking it all up again for? There is only one outcome by spouting off and that is negative, so why do it? He is supposed to be 'managing' not spouting off.
The man's a muppet, end of. His use of Bellamy is either stupid or spiteful, and as a Jack tw*t with Sponge bob in his ranks I reckon the latter.
And don't even get me started on his suits last seen at the TopRank in 1981, chewing gum with his mouth open and not doing his top button up.
Rant over boys, feel slightly better for it ta

Yeah maybe he was asked the question about Collins, journalists like to stir the sh*te up.
Don't really care where the manager from Wales comes from providing he is doing a good job, we know results are not going for us and at the end of the day results will what he will be judged on.

He really is just so poor, its like the rumblings of a small time conference manager.
Fri Oct 04, 2013 1:07 pm
Both are in the wrong, Collins turns up when he wants and has done for years, Coleman or not. Perhaps it was right he was dropped.
HOWEVER, Coleman used the Collins issue to deflect attention away from himself after what was an awful week for him. He made up a story so the press would write about that rather than his piss poor management. He's got to do something very special against Macedonia and Belgium otherwise he's got to go.
Every International manager deserves at least a qualifying campaign, we may have six points but they are from what is the worst Scottish side in living memory and even they have turned things around.

The end of this current campaign cannot come quickly enough.
Coleman is not exactly helping himself here, and Collins has been sulking ever since Gary Speed dropped him, in favour of Darcy, for the England game at Wembley.
They are two sides of the same coin.
Where do we go from here? According to today's papers, the FAW want Coleman to change his back room staff. He may, or may not, sign a new two year contract.
Coleman has had an even tougher job than most Wales managers, but perhaps now is the time to move on. I actually wonder why Coleman would want to continue. If we get a new manager, then we really do need to support him. Gary Speed, sadly, is no longer with us. While its right that we honour his memory, we shouldn't compare the next manager,(Coleman, or not), to Gary's time in charge.

hope collins never plays for wales again.

I might be in a minority but I don't think Coleman has done too badly with Wales, we have definitely shown signs of what we had under Speed recently but I am not sure if the negative feeling around is too much for him to continue. Almost feels like we need a fresh start.
Having said that I was really disappointed with the Macedonia and Serbia results, we should have got better results from those games even without Bale.
Not sure if Pulis would fit the squad that is there, would love to see a Welsh legend such as Giggsy or even Bellamy have a go with Verheijen (will never see him back sadly though).

I dont think he deserves to the way he has behaved the last few years.
Coleman is turning this into a farce tho.

Coleman should keep these things private.Ring Collins and discuss it in private.
i think he could be losing the dressing room and he'll be gone after the remaining games.
Fri Oct 04, 2013 6:27 pm
Lets be honest whoever takes over the Wales job is on a hiding to nothing, some people think that's because a man is from a certain part of Wales he's fair game? Maybe if or when Coleman leaves the job we might go outside of Wales to find the next manager.

Aberdare league manager at best imo

Another in a long list of muppet managers who instead of picking the phone up, or driving over to a player's house wants to play it out in public.
I don't beleive him - nor did his wife
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... fears.htmlHad to laugh at this mind from the bottom of the article...
Last night fans on the club's message board were discussing whether he might be forced to quit over the bugging affair.
Many claimed it was a "private matter" and should not affect his position at the club. However, one fan joked "It would not have been the opposition bugging Chris Coleman's car for clues to his tactics.
"He usually outlines his plans in the pre-match press conference."
But it shouldn't even be an issue. The reporter asked him the question as they do, and he could have just said, 'It's between me and James and it will get sorted out.'
FFS he's hardly rushed off his feet with 6 games a year, so why not just visit a player who has fgot a problem and sort it face to face
Just like Toshack and Gould his man management is shite, it's not like we've got quality waiting to take his place.
Won 3 drawn 1 lost 9 . Awful.
This is interesting as well
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 581021.stmWe need a fresh new manager with no baggage.

These threads are so pointless.
He can win 20 matches in a row and people would still find a way to blame him. For that reason it suggestes there is NO reasoning behind these responses.
He is a manager no more or no less talented than our usual managers, he took over in difficult circumstances and the team doesnt seem to be performing. Not for the first time in Wales' history, lets be frank. Toshack was awful, Speed got the job at the right time just like Hughes but both as tactically inept as eachother.
We have a poor pool of players, we are always going to, we are a minnow. So we need a special manager to produce some decent results. We are NEVER going to get one of these because if the way the FAW work, on a budget. However it seems people are more annoyed with Coleman due to his Swansea connections.
It is not Colemans fault he was appointed, its not Colemans fault he doesnt have the nouse to clear up such a mess that is Wales' national team and it isnt Colemans fault Collins is a petulant player that has never had the commitment required. To blame him regardless for all of this is just ignorance.
If Coleman resigns, what then? We replace him with someone else not good enough to take on the worst job in football. Its pointless. Stop getting on Colemans back and start getting on the FAW's back they are the cause of the problem... Not Coleman. I feel people are just using the National teams situation to vent their Swansea frustrations. Pointless.
