' Kevin McNaughton glad to be back playing '

03rd Oct 2013

New recruit pleased Wanderers kept their first clean sheet of the season at Blackpool.

It was touch and go for manager Dougie Freedman whether or not he could include Kevin McNaughton in the Bolton match day squad for the game at Bloomfield Road, with the full back awaiting international clearance from FIFA after his loan move from Cardiff City.

However, with three hours to spare before the game got underway, the Whites received good news from football’s governing body permitting the on loan defender to play against the Tangerines.

Putting in a whole hearted display at right back, McNaughton reflected back on his debut for the club and how he hopes his new side can go one better at the weekend against Birmingham City.

“It was a good to keep a clean sheet and we did well in spells,” said the 31-year-old. "We soaked up the pressure well and overall I thought we created the best opportunities and we were unlucky not to score at the end.

“Blackpool have looked good this season and they played well in spells but then again so did we. We didn’t take our chances when we were on top which is crucial in the Championship because there are fine margins in this division. At the end of the day we were unlucky not to get all three points.

“I only saw the game at the weekend and we seemed a bit flat and we just need an injection. I thought Liam Feeney did well against Blackpool and he used his pace well in the first half.

“It is good to be back playing and I enjoyed playing the full 90 minutes on Tuesday night. Overall it was a decent performance.

“We are ready to go again at the weekend against Birmingham City and fingers crossed we actually get the result we are looking for.

“The team has struggled to get their first win but we were knocking on the door against Blackpool and hopefully if we do that on Saturday the first three points will come.”

Its not right and its not natural. City legend is our Kev. I wonder how many Bolton wives he's already shagged?

agree with this 100% for obvious reasons, but for the reason of him being such a top bloke and Bluebirds legend it is so right as he fully deserves to be playing football.
Hope superKev does great for Bolton

This has hurt me more than the rebrand to see Kev in the colour of Swansea. Of all colours it had to be bloody white. It doesn't look right at all. Someone should tell Bolton to only play him away from home.

:( :( :(

Of course they are Barry. My point is nothing to do with the aim of Bluebirds Unite, more of the way they go about it and how they think they are going to achieve it. I agreed that equal rights for black people was right as well yet without both the peaceful and vocal approaches of MLK and the violent and shocking approaches of Malcolm X and the BP's then its arguable that it might have taken longer.

Like I've said, I would love for us to play in blue, I really would, for one it would shut you up. However, it's not ever going to happen with Tan here and the sooner BU get this ridiculous 'we'll educate Tan' shit out of their heads the better. You can't educate someone who has no will to be educated. Tan is quite happy to plough along and do things his way. A TAN OUT campaign would make more sense but they haven't got the balls to stand for such a cause knowing it would only get minimal support thus it shows where the vast majority lie in what they will and wont accept.

I meant the "shut you up" bit of course - we'll be in blue at some point, I've no doubt, just don't know when that will be.

For me, I am prepared to wait until that time, say thank you to Vincent for what he's done for our club, and concentrate on supporting the boys on the pitch.

One thing - the strip we played against Fulham looked like a decent bet for an away strip when we do return to blue. As a kid I liked us playing in red away.

Never forget your Welsh :ayatollah:

I hope Kev does well for them, but I also hope he comes back to us refreshed and has a chance of a few games. There'll no doubt be injuries here and there so I hope he gets a chance for us in the PL - nothing less than he deserves. KTC is the better player, yes, but Kev has been a cracking servant to the club and deserves his moment in the sun.
