Not the fiber optic type because it isn't in the area, but what is the normal broad band service like, and is it faster than AOL who I'm with now

I have had it for two years now Gwyn and it is fantastic in Bridgend. High speed, never breaks down and no caps... Honestly can't fault it at all.

Gywn
I used to use it and what a terrible service I received, I eventually found out that they did not have a exchange in my area.

Check that website mate, I used to have same all connection fine until I tried to do something which put strain on the connection, example play games download etc. After year long complaints to Sky I finally found out that my area did not have a Sky exchange and they rent a line of BT who capped the speeds. I transferred to BT infinity cancelled all my sky packages due to there sh*t customer service and won't ever go back

Very good with sky & fast

Remember ALL services utilise the same infrastructure so your speeds will be about the same on every company using the BT copper wire.
Even when BT get in fibre every company will have access to it and supply nearly the same service.
They only really differ by price and customer service.
Someone has posted the SamKnows website go on there and stick in your post code. If you are anything over about 2km from your nearest exchange your speed will be cack WHOEVER you are with.

I've got Sky broadband and its good - it's not as fast as Virgin but i'm not in a Virgin area.

There is a reason it is given away free. You get what you pay for.
Rubbish is the best description. Unreliable, and god help you if you need customer service, prepare for long times with no service.
Look at prices after "free" period and the service you get. Watch out for limits on usage as well.

Glad I'm not the only one who experienced shocking service.

I've had no problems with sky broadband, seem's alright like.

Been with Sky for a few years and never had a problem.
Not sure if their offer is still on but a month or so back (to compete with BT) they were giving free broadband if you were a Sky Sports subscriber provided you signed up for 12 months.
I was already a Sky Broadband user but phoned them up and they gave me the 'free broadband' deal.

Left talk talk 2 years ago for Sky...Well Happy with it up Sneggy.

Gwyn, been with Sky for years and no issues other than price and after service that seems intent on taking more money off you until you threaten to walk away

I've got Sky broadband in the home and the pub Gwyn. It's decent and never had any problems. As for your fibre optic comment, coincidentaly they were fitting it outside the other day so I'd ask Sky if I were you as it looks like its finally arrived in the valleys

Mountain Ash town centre. They dug up the pavement the other day. It didn't take long. Should be in Aberdare too I'm guessing?

Whatever you do AVOID PLUSNET
I was with plusnet, signed up to an 18 month contract.
Moved to a house where we couldn't have a sky dish so had to watch my sky tv via the sky go thing. My use age was around 100gb a month.
My bill from plusnet each month was £80 minimum.
My bad for not knowing about the use age cap, but still they r flipping useless.
Took 6 months to get a new modem out of them after mine was faulty.

I found it shit, slow as feck and sometimes it would seem to crash. They did eventually do something to get it a bit faster, but then the offer came out for free BT Sport so I switched, it's not brilliant but it is a bit faster and more stable ........

It really depends on where you're living now Gwyn. The further away you live from the nearest exchange then the slower your connection will be. Unless you are in a fibre optic area. For example if you were living at the top of Glynhafod then you'd be better off having 3G than broadband
AOL is owned by Talk Talk in this country and their customer service is woeful. I've been with sky for a few years with no problems their service is generally pretty good.
