' CARDIFF CITY AIM TO PILE ON THE PRESSURE '

Wednesday October 2nd 2013

The Geordies travel to Cardiff knowing they must get some sort of result to appease their passionate but disgruntled fans

Cardiff City are aiming to pile the agony on Alan Pardew as crisis club Newcastle visit the Welsh capital this weekend.

The Toon boss goes into Saturday’s game amid reports his job is on the line, with suggestions yesterday he had even offered to resign in the wake of Monday night’s 3-2 loss at Everton.

Sources close to Newcastle say talk of Pardew quitting is premature and that he left Merseyside without speaking to owner Mike Ashley.

But there has been uncertainty surrounding Pardew’s position at the Toon helm since Joe Kinnear was fast-tracked above him into the newly-created post of director of football by Ashley.

It means Pardew dare not lose to the Bluebirds this weekend, or the pressure could yet reach breaking point.

Malky Mackay’s men will be seeking to take advantage of that intense scrutiny and uncertainty in opposition ranks in much the same way as they did with Martin Jol’s Fulham last weekend.

Speculation has been rife about Jol’s position in charge since City’s 2-1 triumph at Craven Cottage, courtesy of goals by Steven Caulker and Jordon Mutch.

While Newcastle and Fulham languish near the bottom, the Bluebirds sit above champions Manchester United,

prompting Mackay to say: “We’ve got a real belief after six games about our ability to play at this level and be at home at this level.”

However, Pardew is determined to begin turning things around in Cardiff, saying: “I think we still have a chance of finishing in the top 10. As a team we have shown inconsistencies, especially in our defending. Some of the goals we have conceded this year really are not good enough for us.

“We will have to do some work and there will have to be personnel changes in there.

“But against Everton we showed some quality in the second half and that will serve us going forward to Cardiff this weekend..”

Crisis Club Newcastle?? How things change on one result its barmy. Going into Monday they had only lost 1 in last 6, had a better pts per games ratio than us in fact I think they would have gone above us into 9th or something

Exactly. It seems very early in the season for the 2nd team in the league to be thinking of sacking their manager.
Surely after offering Pardew a 7 year? contract, he will rip millions from them if he was going to be sacked.

If he is going to be sacked after a game then let us dish him that punishment on Saturday :ayatollah:
