' NORWICH AWAY TICKETS - DO NOT PANIC '

Tue Oct 01, 2013 9:06 pm

Basically the club felt that there would be big demand from the travel group members but as such the supporters club have suggested they will take 300-400 to Norwich judging by the bookings.

As a general pattern the rest of the travel group usually match between them what the supporters club usually take so going on previous form that would suggest the remaining travel group members taking 300-400 between them.

That means that 600-800 tickets will be taken by the travel group and Supporters club.

Leaving between 600 and 800 to be sold out of the remaining 1,400 from the initial allocation.

Now if the club want to have more tickets they would have to buy in full in blocks of 500 at a time, the club does not think it will reach the 1400 let alone another 500 at £35 a pop.

Maybe me taking 100 tickets is against the grain of what the other travel group members are selling in terms of their numbers but there is no need to panic.

There will be plenty of tickets available when they go on sale on October 9th.

I think it is is fair assumption by the club to think that the vast majority that plan on going to Norwich will be doing so on subsidised travel by those in the travel group.

It looks very much like the travel group including the official supporters club will be taking up to 800 of the 1400 tickets.

Leaving 600+ tickets for those who wish to travel under their own steam.

The club believe that the majority who plan on going would have done so using the subsidised travel scheme.

The thinking was that we would take around 30 subsidised coaches amounting to approximately 1500 fans and a further 400 being on sale to those who would make their own way.

Hope this relaxes peoples fears that there are not many tickets left available.

You can see peoples concern though Carl. For the likes of me, to catch a bus i have to come down to Cardiff (west ham was a long day!) So its a worry when the travel groups take up the lions share like the chelsea game.
If i still lived down there i would be on carlos coaches but you catch my drift.

I rang the club on Monday afternoon and they had no idea of the allocation or the date they went on sale, but an hour or so later it was posted on here...

Carl,

Just had a look at your figures and I think the problem here is probably people letting their coach operators know too late.

Just form what I know there is your buses with 100, Tony's with 120-150, Mine with 40, and at least 2 others which I know would be certain to take 70-80 between them (I won't name names as the other figures are public -these aren't) - this is 330-380 to start and that's not to mention all the other buses, (there are at least another 10 operators that i can think of) the ones I've mentioned will most likely only be HALF of the non-supporter's club buses s i reckon demand from non-supporters club buses will end up being more like 6-700.

Not blaming the club as if they have only been told of 300 then that's all they will expect. Also if they are paying for the coaches they don't want a bill for unsold tickets on top.

I just think that people are finding it a struggle organising so far in front. It used to be one game at a time - especially with 3 weeks between aways, now we have to be sorting 3-4 games in front. I'm lucky as the nucleus of our bus are long term mates of mine or guys who've been with us almost from the start of running them . Not so easy for some of the the groups who have hundreds of members who pick and choose.

A lot wouldn't have been ready to commit until after Fulham, which by then was too late -others would have waited to see if they could get Chelsea tickets, also too late.

Guess it would be too late to ask Norwich for more now anyway as they have a waiting list for tickets and would be sure to snap them up and get them on sale quickly.

The biggest issue is this month's notice clubs have to give. Not forgetting we only found out Newcastle were sending 500 back a few days ago - are they going to pay us for them ?

Just hope there aren't too many fans disappointed.

This is exactly the issue that people are complaining about!!! "Leaving 600+ for those travelling under their own steam", that's a disgrace! Why should the people who choose to go on the bus have first dibs??

I don't live in Cardiff so don't have the option to go on the bus. Because of this I don't get the benefit of the subsidised travel, and now I find I'm at the back of the queue for tickets to the actual game.

I've been a season ticket holder for as long as I can remember, and went to 15-odd aways last year. When I bought my season ticket we were told we would have priority for away games. Nothing was said about having to wait until those taking the bus have had their fill, and being asked to feed off scraps. We are treated as second class away fans if we don't go on the buses.

I really admire those who organise the buses as it must be one hell of a job. In my opinion they should get their tickets for free from the club, but please don't pretend that those who take advantage of all their hard work are better than other fans.

Oh, and every home game is a 300 mile round trip for me too! It's hard work over a long season, but I do it because I love the club. However, as I don't go on the bus when going away I'm clearly not a true fan, or worthy of equal treatment as those who do.

Judging by the replies, I think it's Carlos that seems to be missing the point.

I dont think that its Carl missing the point. This is the way its always been done and its worked rather successfully for a very long time.

I dont think either party are at fault here, Carl is defending the system which has historical success and fans are now questioning the apparent 'fairness' of the system.

The only way I can see this being resolved is by stopping fans booking tickets with travel groups ensuring you alone are responsible for the purchase of your ticket and if you choose to travel with an organised group just book your seat on the bus, though that system will cause problems itself.

We need to decide whats more important organised travel or the tickets.

I may be totally wrong, but most if not all other clubs seem to sell tickets to individual supporters then those supporters book their travel with who ever they want. It has never been so easy to book anything these days with phones, text and internet, so it's beyond me, how supporters cannot cannot execute this one simple task! It doesn't need, individuals taking responsibility for the masses.

These buses have been block booking tickets for years while in lower leagues and no problems yet now in the premiership people want it changed beause they want to start going away to the big games? How is it fair that the buses can't operate they way they always have just because Cardiff are in a higher league? (I might be biase as I go on a bus - but i generally do away games every year for the last 15 years)

I have been going to places like hartlepool, york etc for 15 years no trouble getting tickets to travel by car. Why should this season be any different just because we are in the prem.

Bigger demand for prem away tickets than tickets away to Hartlepool.. Surely you can see that. :laughing6:

I can indeed, though hartlepool away was great. Monkey hangers !! Just want an equal chance for away tickets thats all.

I dont know about other clubs all I know is how this club has given out tickets in the past, all I know is since weve been in the prem ticket demand has gone through the roof and tickets sell fast.

Maybe the club should stop you being able to book your ticket with your travel.
