Everton v Newcastle

Mon Sep 30, 2013 5:15 pm

Good chance to check out our opponents for Saturday.

Also worth noting that if Everton win tonight, and we beat Newcastle on Saturday then we'll go into the international break in the top half because Villa play Hull next weekend :ayatollah:

It will also give us a benchmark to how well we played against them.

Ben Arfa is the one to watch.

We've been limited teams to long range strikes, which he's an expert at.

Shows how solid our defence was against Everton and how poor Newcastle are away from home.

Could Pardew''s job be under threat?

3-0

Lukaku again

We deserve automatic relegation if we lose/draw to these on Saturday

Lets hope Malky capitalises on this and plays an attacking game. Come out of the blocks at pace and really get in their faces, make it difficult for them like Everton have.

Cabaye isn't bad either

3-2 now. Everton aren''t even good. Newcastle have just been poor. Everton have let Newcastle in. Poor defending

Shows you can't take your foot of the gas at this level. Saturday won't be at all easy and they have good players in their ranks. If they carry on their second half into our game we will find it tough

Two sides to Newcastle tonight.

What side will we see? Some seem to think we should beat them no problem. I think it's a game we could easily lose.

Re: Everton v Newcastle

I think Newcastle's defence looked weak. And we'll be the home team so hopefully do more attacking. I think we need Nooney for this one, tear their fullbacks apart with his pace :ayatollah:

Martinez lauds Lukaku after Newcastle win
30 September 2013

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has hailed Romelu Lukaku's intelligence after his double secured a 3-2 win over Newcastle United.

Lukaku scored twice in the first half at Goodison Park on Monday, with Ross Barkley netting the other goal as Everton moved up to fourth in the Premier League by maintaining the only unbeaten record in the top flight.

The Belgium international - on loan from Chelsea - also notched the winner in Everton's last league game at West Ham, continuing his great form after scoring 17 goals for West Brom last season.

And Martinez believes it is the 20-year-old's all-round game that sets him apart from the majority of other strikers in the division.

Not many toon fans, entire top section empty, very unusual for the toon. Unlike Everton though we can allow more home fans in on Saturday :ayatollah:

They've sent back some of their tickets for Saturday too.
