OUR FAMOUS HOOLIGAN FANS

Sun Sep 29, 2013 11:11 am

Isn't it great now instead of being known purely for our bad reputation, we now have the media and pundits singing our fans praises.

Chris Kamara said yesterday we like a breath of fresh air to the Premier league, Nial Quin wants a season ticket to watch us.
Ben Sheperd was actually sitting with his mates in the neutral section and he said we were amazing.

Don't think we are totally out of the woods yet mind, and anyone who thinks we have all become angels couldn't be more wrong. We are getting treated better now by police etc and getting a bit of respect, but it could change in an instant if there was aggressive type approach like we have encountered for years with no success, you know we will treat them "Firm but fair"approach, which translated meant " be firm, frighten them into submission and if they react, hit them with your staffs, Fair enough.

The new approach of " treat them "Friendly, but be prepared" is the way forward, treat us well, and if people don't respond, then do what you have to, I think we have got to the stage now that if we see some of ours acting like knobs or bullying etc. then if they get pulled then hard luck.

We have a lot of older heads who have have been there and done it, but these are different times and the older heads are playing their parts (in most cases) to keep the young wannabees in line.
Most of us know that we now have bigger fish to fry, and I for one am pleased of our new image, long may it last. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Good post, there will always be an element of hostility with our fans. I think it's just where we're from.

But look at Bolton last year, their stewards fucked our fans around and we retaliated. Our boys didn't go looking for it but they stood up for themselves. Nobody can't put a mark next to our name for that

I think a lot of of this is down to Simon Insole, god bless him, he earned our trust and was a major part in changing things.

After a while, if you seen Simon having a word or pulling someone, then you knew he must have been a tw*t and deserve it, before that, if you seen a copper pulling someone, then you'd have forty of us getting involved, with the ain't done nuffing scenario, even though in truth, we hadn't see it anyway.

Top man sorely missed and still expect to see him every time I go away. :ayatollah:

You're bang on gwyn, it was great when i was down for the Everton game to see families of Everton fans wandering around the ground before the game wearing their colours and not getting any problems, as for yesterday i watched the game on the net and the city fans were magnificent, you all played a part in getting us the three points, away from home i don't think there is a set of fans anywhere who make as much noise as we do. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Which ones were that, and are you prepared to back that up with proof, quite happy for me or you to get the police involved if it means putting this crap to bed, time to put up or shut up, or it will get legal.big brave anonymous keyboard warriors can be traced when the law is involved.

Don't normally agree with your views and posts, but this is an excellent post and account. :ayatollah:

I'm glad that our hooligan element is being eradicated. Hooliganism has no place in football these days & it's better for it. There's a big difference between singing a few songs and having general banter & looking for a scrap.

I bet Gwyn didn't threaten any fans. Do people even know what construes a threat these days? I bet he just said a few words and because he is a big bloke others got all dramatic and stuff.

Yes we are having those rave reviews and the one thing hampering it is over zealous stewarding home and away. It seems that with the prem everyone should sit down clap when needed eat your prawn sandwiches and be good little Angels.
But we have thrown that little handbook right in the bin and we are creating an atmosphere the pundits like the players and Managers like. We are getting the reviews and long may it continue.

Gwyn said nothing.

However the company he was with didn't help the matter.

well those are the rules again nothing to do with stewards rules set by the FA and various safety authorities

now you can keep blaming stewards till the cows come home, problem is when the cows come home the situation is going to be exactly the same

the club has provided an area where you can stand all game (they didnt have to very overzealous that decision) if you choose not to stand in that area you have to follow the rules in the area you are in.

simple really

dont suppose you will actually listen this time though will you and we will have the exact same conversation in a few weeks time.

yes ive told them as often as I could when I was a steward the task facing us is almost always impossible and at times very dangerous, still doesnt stop them from insisting I enforce their rules. ive given them several reasons why standing isnt dangerous and have proven I can keep aisles clear whilst people stand, still doesnt change their minds neither does it stop fans blaming stewards.

Don't know why people have a to at the stewards.. They are simply enforcing rules that others have set. :?

Its the same praise we were getting when we went up and allso crystal palace get praise for there ultra style support.
Your the new face in the prem so the media will latch on to it.
As for the stewarding!the prem is a global leading league and has become boring in the stands.
They dont want fans on the pitches and trouble in the satands, and allmost every club is a sell out and there for only season tickets are sold, what this means only them with money spare can afford to go to games.
Back to the atmosphere at games, when we went up it was a new thing and us jacks were over excited (as u are now) at being in the big time, last season was the same! But this season because we aint classed as the underdog it seams fans are not as excites as its our 3rd season.
If you stay up you will allso suffer this and you will find most grounds u go to are boring and dead as the real fans have been priced out or are playing for nothing.

I was sat next to Ben Shepherd Gwyn, he was on a stag do and was in there with his mates, i asked him to give us a mention on the programme this morning which he duly did.

When the winner went we were all jumping up and down and he was with us, top guy.
