Now heres a couple of serious stats

Sat Sep 28, 2013 10:45 pm

Aston Villa had just 33% posession and had the least amount of touches in the oppisitions half in the premier league this season yet still beat and scored 3 against title contenders Man City.

Yet more proof that stats are nonsensical when it comes to football.

Remember Bayern Munich battered Barcelona in the champions league semi final 4-0 last season. It was one of the most one sided games of football I've ever seen and bayern were rampant.

well have I got news for you

possession stats

bayern 37% vs barca 63%

Who gives a f**k who won the champions league eh!

They should strip Bayern of the title and award it to Barcelona :old:

The only stat that matters is the final score

Stats are very significant to the obsessive compulsive type.

Not true Adam. All that matters is that you play nice tika taka sideways and backwards passes. If you do that then you are unbeatable. The score doesn't matter at all.

Totally agree, this obsession people have with shots in target recently I find weird.
Don't need to know stats when you watch the game.

Firstly goals win games, then after that you consider the general performance. We had been creating chances.

The stats show that Villa were more clinical than Man City who had more of the ball. If you have a higher possession it doesn't mean you deserve to win it means you have greater opportunity to put decisive plays together, whether you do or not will show in the chances created stat... And whether those chances were taken or not will show in the goals stat.

I dont understand peoples confision with stats :?

Anyone that relies on stats solely, cannot read the game. Roath do you not sleep? are you so obsessed that you are here 24 hours? 3.30 am this morning wasn't it? Seriously, seek help.

I dont think anyone relies on stats solely. And if you dont then you should explain your reasons like me, if only people did eh?

3.30am your time is not 3.30am my time

Yes I was, and then 8 hours later straight back on, stats show that the average human requires 7-8 hours sleep per night on average, so you get your shut eye and, bang, straight back on at 3.30 in the morning our time, really please get some therapy.

Oh right, yeah true. Its just a coincidence that my early morning posts here coincide with swansea matches

Im not an average human, surely you have learned that by now. This forum is a permanent window up on my cpu as its the only decent site to discuss football and it entertains when doing things such as watching the golf online, such as now

I really don't understand the stick Roathie gets for the time he posts. Yes some people have a routine and wake up at the same time and do the same thing, a lot of people don't. I get up early, go to university, relax, then do some more work outside uni either for money or my course, go football training, go out and get steaming and then come home around 4am. My organs are feeling it today mind. Glad its Sunday, the day of rest. Praise the lord.

In that all that though mate you haven't mentioned going on a rival fans message board, and fighting verbal scraps on multiple fronts whilst trying to display above average intelligence, quite a difference.

I think overall the team who create the most clear cut chances generally have the better more creative players and over the course of the season score more goals which inevitably lead to higher points tallys

in this league world class players will score from anywhere within a 25 yard radius no matter how good your defense is
