Fancy dress fascists. Offensive Halloween costumes...

Thu Sep 26, 2013 7:16 pm

Tesco and Asda withdraw "Psycho Ward" and Mental Patient costumes after complaints. As far as I can see the names of the costumes describe exactly what they are. I wonder if Psychotic patients are really that concerned? It clearly isn't making out that all mental patients are axe wielding murderers is it?

Think before you send your children out in costumes as they may offend people

I mean, how plastic are those costumes for god sake, I mean how can anyone be offend by those and as for Stan Collymore the female beater then he shouldn't have any input in any topic what so ever as he's a vile bully who loves smacking ladies.

As we both know, there are several types of patient , the homicial maniac, axe murderer types, as depicted by the costume , and the less severely affected , nobody is going to confuse the two.

Yes I would agree, however it hardly paints someone with M.Health issues in a positive light

Believe me I enjoy a laugh I work with people who are already labelled who have suffered tremendous physical/sexual/mental abuse who are trying to move on with their live, and face tremendous stigma with being classed as having M. Health issue, all I am saying is this doesn't help matters. Would you agree with a costume that depicts someone as a Pedophile as a once a year laugh?.

Who would you describe a pedophile in a costume?

No I don't find it offensive and find it funny to be honest. What are you going to do on Halloween night walk the streets telling everyone wearing a costume that you find it offensive and to take it off or you'll report it to the killjoys? What joy you'll be.

What is more worrying is Asda is owned by Wall mart and this has been imported from the good ole USA

What is the point? Ok, What are we allowed to wear? Tellytubbies costumes? Is that ok or will we offend the fat people?

Re: Fancy dress fascists. Offensive Halloween costumes...

People need to get a life.

For Halloween every year in uni we have an offensive costume night out and the one with the most offensive costume wins. These costumes would be considered barely offensive by the standards set last year.

Why do people try and find the bad in everything or take offence to everything? Just lighten up mush. If you're going to let a costume ruin your life or night out or whatever then I actually feel sorry for you as a person. You must live one hell of a sheltered life.

You can't blame video games for violence or costumes for stereotypes. The world just needs to accept that some are bad people out there or uneducated people in some situations - some are psychopaths who kill, others are prejudice and discriminative, others are racist and prefer their own people - this isn't anything new, its part of the human race.

Wear what you f*cking like to be honest I am just putting my point of view. Luckily I will be with friends not wandering the streets looking to play the part of someone with M. Health issues. The best part is that Halloween is an imported load of crap from the yanks. have fun

Well you could always boycott the store if you feel that strongly about it because after all we do live in a free democracy after all.

Hey here's an idea why not dress up as terrorist and pretend to kill people in a Kenyan shopping Mall there's a laugh for you.

Oh dear, calm down, no need to take things to the extreme. That's what they probably do in Muslim communitys anyway as they don't do Halloween.

When I was younger, I used to go Trick or Treating completely naked but with a walnut shell balanced on the end of my knob. Whenever I got questioned by the police, I told them that I was simply just f*cking Nuts.
