Should we worry

Wed Sep 25, 2013 8:04 pm

Should we worry about the amount of late goals we are conceding at the moment 3 so far & if Danny Graham had taken his chance it would have been 4.
Does anyone think that due to the amount of energy we are using with our pressing game & the concentration levels that we have to maintain against premier league sides that from the 80th minute we are dead on our feet.
Malky is saying that we are a very fit side but so far the stats don't back that up or have we just been unlucky.
Thoughts :?:

Conceding a late goal against two of the best sides in the premier league whilst losing to a late winner with our second string back four.

Do you really need an answer?

The problem is by playing so cautious all the time we are leaving our selves open to be upset and lose draw if the opposition scores a goal. If we played more attacking football instead of concentrating on defending all the time we would maybe have a 2 goal cushion so if the opposition did score it wouldn't be so bad.

Against the bigger teams we have played its hard I know but my previous point refers to games like hull Fulham and newcastle where we shouldn't be f*cking about being so negative and should try and attack teams and get 3 points

Against Spurs and Man City? I don't think so. If we played attacking football against these sides we would be caught out at the back very quickly and would lose by more than one goal.

correct,if we went all out attack against those two teams we would have lost both handsomely.I like malkys approach of keeping it tight, we're playing some good football and competing with the best. :malky:

Answers for what? We've conceded late goals to arguably the two best sides in the country.

It's not as scientific as you'd like to think

I don't think it's to do with fitness or concentration levels, but more to do with OUR IMPACT - THE TWELTH MAN. We get nervous in the last 5 or 10 minutes and our players sense this and get nervous as well, then the opposition raise their game because they sense this as well. Think back to the Man City game, we are 3 - 1 up and it's injury time and the crowd starts to panic and we let them get a goal back and everyone starts blowing whistles. It's not unique to us either, we've have all seen this watching televised games as a neutral. The problem is that we've too many negative minded fans on this forum and in the crowd.
