' Bolton sniffing Mark Hudson & Joe Mason '

With Wanderers sitting bottom of the Championship, after making their worst start to a campaign since 1902, Dougie Freedman is looking to bolster his ranks with the addition of some fresh faces, in an attempt to inject a new winning mentality into his side.

A lack of leadership in defence has been a glaring issue in the early stages of the campaign, and Freedman may look to fill that void by bringing in the experienced Hudson. The 31-year-old captained Cardiff to the Championship title last season, but has been restricted to just two Capital One Cup ties so far this season and may be allowed to leave the Bluebirds on a temporary basis.

Another City player being linked with a switch to the Reebok Stadium is young forward Joe Mason. Like Hudson, the 22-year-old has only featured in cup competition this term but featured heavily in last year's promotion winning side. The former Republic of Ireland under-21 international joined Cardiff from Plymouth Argyle in the summer of 2011, for £250,000, and has since gone on to score 18 goals in 77 appearances for the club - 34 of which have come from the substitute's bench.

Wanderers are understood to have made an initial approach for the two players, although they have yet to receive an official answer from Cardiff officials.

Meanwhile, attempts to bring Crystal Palace defender Paddy McCarthy to the club look to be stalling because of the player's long-term injury problems. McCarthy is club captain at Selhurst Park, but a long-standing groin injury has kept him out of action since April 2012. A move looked possible a few weeks ago, but the player has since suffered a relapse of the problem and is back on the treatment table.

Be a good move for Mason, but I'd like to see Hudson stay.

why would we let two players out on loan who are in our 25 man squad that would be lunacy surely.

Thought Mason and Hudson was in our 25 man squad Room for Conway then bring him home.

We can not add to the 25 man squad until the registration window opens jan 1st I think

They haven't got a hope in hell of getting Hudson he's our 3rd choice cb, mason more realistic on a short term loan maybe.
