What a steal! Cardiff boss Mackay believes West Brom short-changed themselves when selling Odemwingie for just £2.5million

Malkay Mackay believes West Brom short-changed themselves in their sale of Peter Odemwingie to Cardiff City.

The Nigeria striker impressed in a cameo appearance on his debut against Tottenham on Sunday and is set to feature in a heavily-changed side for Tuesday night's Capital One Cup clash against West Ham.
Odemwingie spent the past seven months in the wilderness at West Brom after the debacle of his aborted move to QPR before Mackay bagged the 32-year-old for around £2.5million.

During his time at the Baggies, Odemwingie was a fans favourite and was very impressive, but then fall outs within the club left Odemwingie out of contention for a first team place, then different rumours spread with fans then turning on him.

Malky believes a fresh start Odemwingie is what was needed and " I am willing to give him this "

Agree, although not match fit he had a very good introduction. Shame he did not put his left footer into the bottom corner ! that would have been some debut. Will make a good impact for us. :malky:

West brom haven't short changed themselves at all. I thought he was poor for them so a reasonable price. Players under perform for their club but perform for new employees saying that he hasn't done for you what he didn't do for West brom so don't really understand what your manager is banging on about to be honest.

You must be joking ! I would say that 30 goals in 87 games in the Premiership is not a bad return at all. I would not call that poor! You may think thats poor but for most football fans I think they will see that the goal/game ration for the Premiership is very good.

Most people keep a low key on these new signings, you know, try and not to big the new players up to much after they've been a let down on their previous club. Don't start shouting to soon mate as it has a tendency to come back and rim your back passage
