What do you think? Can you imagine Ben Turner in an English shirt?

"Sky Sports understands England's scouting team are keeping tabs on Cardiff City defender Ben Turner.
The 6ft 4ins central defender has enjoyed a superb start to the season with Cardiff, impressing in the games against top trio Manchester City, Tottenham and Everton this term.
Turner's form has not gone unnoticed with the 25-year-old now appearing on Roy Hodgson's radar with the England boss short of options in central defence.
Turner has represented England at Under-19 level and he rejected the chance to pledge his international allegiance to Wales last year after catching the eye of Wales boss Chris Coleman.
The towering defender, who scored in the 2012 Carling Cup final against Liverpool, has established himself as a key man in the Cardiff side since his arrival from Coventry in the summer of 2011, playing an instrumental role in their successful promotion to the Premier League last season.
Hodgson has shown he is not afraid to give call-ups to players in form and he and his coaching staff are expected to maintain a watching brief over Turner during the next few weeks."

Both Caulker and Turner have been magnificent. If Caulker gets a call up so should big Ben!
Mon Sep 23, 2013 1:37 pm
Should he get a call up he will of course then be vindicated in his decision to rejct playing for Wales.
Mon Sep 23, 2013 1:46 pm
Haha I can imagine England playing hoof ball with turner at the back

April fools has come early.

i didnt want him in the side at the start of the season, thought hudson was the better of the two. However his defensive displays have been nothing short of incredible this season, his distribution lets him down massively though.

Is this some sort of joke?how low have England sunk !
Mon Sep 23, 2013 2:17 pm
I think a few good lucks would be better after all he's our player
Mon Sep 23, 2013 3:07 pm
I think by the end of this season Turner would of come on leaps and bounds, his tackling, strength and heading are spot on, he just needs to prove on his composure and passing ability. Our defence has been fine it's going forward that worries me.
Mon Sep 23, 2013 3:19 pm
If he was called up, he'd be a bit part centre back like Dawson or King used to be for England...
Mon Sep 23, 2013 5:45 pm
He has been excellent in defence, distribution has been poor but you have to wonder if he has been asked to lump it forward. He is capable of a simpler pass.

There is no other reason why he continues to do so, if he can't pick a simple 5-10 yard pass then there is something wrong. Plenty of outlets available even if it means getting the fullbacks involved in the game.

I'm glad some of the members of this message board are not a true representation of our fan base.
It seems to have become a popular pass time for 'cardiff city supporters' on this forum to criticise anyone representing our club while wanking furiously over swansea players.
You're an embarrassment to our fan base and I'd rather you just f**k and join the unwashed in swansea

We are talking about Ben Turner not Swansea, your the one trying to turn this into another Swansea thread.

Just proves yet again how deluded our fan base is to be honest. He's been quality this season and his hoofball tactics are an effect of the team as a whole playing too deep. If you play out of defence from too deep you will get caught out and lose possession in vulnerable areas. Look at Jonjo Shelvey for Swansea trying to be too clever with passes and they got caught out plain and simple.
If Turner made these mistakes you'd moan as well so the lad cannot win. I would have preferred Hudson at the start but I can see why Malky went with Turner and why he's manager of the club and I ain't. The problem is the formation of 4-5-1 with 2 DM's lying too deep and that causes a void in the middle of the park. The void is then made up by the attacking midfielders dropping deeper and before you know it we have only a striker up top with 9 behind the ball.
Sorry but at home its time to start using a 4-3-3 and sticking to it at least or at minimum a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond with Odemwingie and Campbell up top, Bellamy wide left, Kim wide right, Whittingham CAM and Medel as CDM. We won't need 2 defensive midfielders if we play this way because we will be able to keep the ball further up the pitch to keep pressure of us.
Polo was right about Malky to be honest. I will admit it because when Im wrong I will hold my hands up and say so.

I'm not trying to turn this into a swansea thread at all, what I'm trying to do is highlight how derogatory our fans have become to our own players.
One of our young players who has already said once this season that he felt let down when the fans were so quick to write him off gets plaudits and recognition off his country's selectors and it's met with ridicule off some cardiff fans!
I find that disrespectful and I find it amazing how some are so quick to cane our own players

Gets undeserved stick. He's made some very solid tackles and noticed he hasn't hoofed the ball as often as he used to like in the championship, Sometimes he does look to pass it. Still reasonably young too and has a great attitude
Mon Sep 23, 2013 7:34 pm
allowing 29 efforts on goal is clearly not good, the amont of times they got through the defence undermines some dullusional supporters into a false sense of security.
that being said having more quality in the midfiel would most likely be the problem solved.
we give the ball away and then the defence have to face 2 or 3 world class players running at them
Mon Sep 23, 2013 7:44 pm
Defenders come good around their late 20's, turner will be class in a couple of yrs

Agree.

Not going to let his hoofing get in the way of what he does as a defender, makes great challenges and times them well.
Hope he manages to get a call up.
Mon Sep 23, 2013 9:33 pm
Time to get Crouchy back in the England mix if that's the case. He's the only one who could get anywhere Turner's shoddy hoofball's.
Mon Sep 23, 2013 9:55 pm
just shows really. how england are doing in the football world, ranked 17th in the world, ffs, they thought bothroyd was good.
