What I saw ....

Sun Sep 22, 2013 6:21 pm

We showed today at times that we are defensively sound and have a very good goalkeeper.
We also showed we offer very little going forward.

(If we won't have a go at them at home then when will we have a go?)

If this is to be our tactic for this season then it will be a long difficult one I'm afraid. It was almost a mirror image of the Everton performance.

We sat to far back an got what we deterred in the end. That being said, the difference was the substitutes. The quality that is on some benches across this league is frightening. If I was another teams supporter nothing would frighten me when I look at our bench.

We are learning very quickly that there is a massive difference between the Championship and the Premiership.

The players will work and never give up but the morale of the squad will suffer if we are playing with this tactic throughout the season. We desperately need a big man to hold up play and we just don't have it,yet they play long ball?

I expected a defeat today if I'm honest, and I am seeing people suggesting it was robbery. Personally I feel Spurs got what they deserved,a win.

On to the next match..... :ayatollah:

I agree I feel we do need to start playing attacking football at some stage, as I feel if we continue to play this defensively the season could pass us by, it will be difficult to keep up that sort of work rate for the whole season. As much as I dislike Holloway Black pool certainly gave it a go when they were in the prem

Our first 3 home games were always going to be hard considering who we had and I am happy with 4 points from it. I think we'll have a go against Fulham and Newcastle seen as they don't pose the same threat as Spurs, City etc.

I will be amazed if we start with two up front in either of those games.

We played with one striker because we were up against incredibly difficult opposition, City, Everton and Spurs all retain possession well so we could only rely on counter attacks and patient build up attacks for the offence. We will play with more attacking freedom against the lesser teams like Fulham and Newcastle. We are missing Cornelius

People weren't complaining after Man City and Everton, get a grip they just added over £100 Million worth of players to an already very strong and well established Premier League squad.....

We were very unlucky, were were fouled for their goal and had a perfectly good goal disallowed, and were a minute away from a fantastic point to one of the best teams in the League, onwards and upwards, let's look forward to Fulham!!!

Think your first comment compliments your second there pal.

We were lucky today not unlucky.

We don't need to get a grip,we fully understand who these teams are and what they're capable of...

But the games against the top six are technical freebies. None expect anything from them.

To see us just sit back is disheartening. Malkys subs were not tactical... If we keep playing for a point then we are gonna struggle.

And I raised similar points against Everton so there goes your other theory also.

I am whitts fan but today he seemed terrified of getting closer than 6ft to any of the opposition has he got an invisible forcefield around him we don't know about?
