Muslim Faith Schools

Sun Sep 22, 2013 4:07 pm

I am not writing this as being a racist, I read an article today that a Muslim faith school insists on its female white teachers to wear a hijab also that female students have to sit at the back of the class if this article is true I find it appalling that females are treated as second class citizens by a culture/religion.it also goes on to describe that lessons can turn into prayer lessons, so in effect it is saying that the curriculum is not being followed? I know it is their culture, but surely all faith schools could be subject to their funding being stopped/suspended if they do not follow the curriculum and they way they treat females

First off you can't be racist as Islam and Muslim people are a religion not a race. Secondly someone needs to put their foot down to all this bullshit, the UK isn't a Muslim country, just like Dubai isn't a Catholic country. If we go to a Muslim land were expected to follow their beliefs and culture to which we do, but then they should be respecting our beliefs and culture and follow our rules but the majority dont. Why should it be good for one and not the other?

Another thing that gets my goat is the niqab. On the news the other day a woman wouldn't take it off in court stating religious reasons, in court of all places!!! No where in the Quran does it state women are to wear niqabs or be treated second rate, it's because their husband's don't want other men looking at them, nothing more. The judge should have taken a stand there and then and said take it off or I'll send you down right now for breach of court, but they are too scared in case they get upset. If any British person done that my exact scenario is what would happen.

To me it sounds as though we're having the piss taken out of us. We're constantly being offended and just taking it up the bumhole while saying thanks. We may as well become a sharia law country at this rate.

This is why no one can talk about religion because I'm 100% right and people don't like to face it.

Don't worry about being racist, Islam is not a race :)

As for faith schools, well I believe that to indoctrinate a child into a dogmatic religion is close to child-abuse. I also absolutely agree with you that public funds should *not* go to schools which teach the curriculum, particularly the sciences, with scorn.

An arguent you'll often hear is that the standard of education is higher in faith schools and you will see the evidence presented by illustrating average higher grades for the children. This however is a bit of a catch 22. Many parents will seek out schools where the average grades are seen to be higher, however these parents are also the ones who take more interest in their children's education and will spend more time with them regarding homework and other relative extracurricular activities.

In a nutshell, the reason some faith schools seem to have higher average grades is that the parents of the children there play a bigger part in their children's education.

This is a good clip from Oxford union. She's so right but notice how a couple of left wing students try and but in. The women sat in silence but when it's her turn then yes, The left wing don't like democracy well only if it suits their views. Nice for her to get around of applause at the end. Yes Islam is wicked unless you're into their ideology.

Couldn't of put it better, left wing bigots.

Agreed mate, but Dubai is not a country at all, its called the "United Arab emirates". And I find all religions are hypocritical and most followers of a particular religion are hypocrites - they like to say one thing and do another, usually out of sight of family, friends, colleagues, etc.

You are spot on though, and its going to get much worse unless someone from a mainstream political party is brave enough to take a stand but I fear liberalism and political correctness has gone too far to reverse now.

I don't think David Cameron has started any new military engagements.
