New TV LG or Samsung

Large screen whats the best ?

I have a 42" Samsung, and from my experience i'll stick with them personally, great picture, high quality tv.
I have been told LG make great TVs too though, tricky one but I dont think you can go wrong with either.

My advice, Don't buy either of them mate.

4 years ago ,We had a samsung 42 inch - only lasted 14 months - out of 12 month warranty - samsung customer services UK did not want to know - 14 months half of screen went black with picture on other half - samsung would not even consider paying parts or labour - i ended up driving the TV in the car 60 miles to nearest samsung stealer, took them 3 weeks to fix - £200+ for part & £200 labour = over £400. Same TV lasted another 8 months and the opposite half of the screen went black - DITCHED IT IN THE SKIP.

Should have known better as always had PANASONIC TV's before my ventures into flat screen. Always went fine.

Just over 3 years ago bought a Panasonic 50 inch after looking on TV forums (panasonic called "panny" on forums), bought from John Lewis as you get a 5 year parts and labour guarantee as standard (or you did 3 years ago) - anyway, TV brill, great colour and sound, fab HD and its got freeview and freesat built in - what more could you want. my view after the samsung episode, is that even if it lasts 5 years its doing good but hope for longer.

After the way i was treated by Samsung UK customer services I swear I will never ever buy any samsung product again. I know I sound bitter but i learned my lesson hopefully.

Samsung are the best value TV's for the money IMO much better than LG, Sony have a great reputation by some but I have always found them more expensive and not as good.....

Panasonic.

Panasonic do the best tvs, and hold their price.

Up until a couple of years ago I would have said Samsung, no question (as would most people unless a Pioneer Kuro was an option). The Koreans had things all their way.

Now though Sony and Panasonic have really got their act together in the flat screen market and it's not as easy a question to answer. I still think Samsung offer value that is very hard to beat, but if you want to spend a little more than look at the Japanese offerings.

Personally I have a Samsung UE55D8000 and I love it, at the time I bought it nothing else really came close, but this year my mum bought a new Sony and it is very impressive, easily a match for my 2 year old Samsung.
