Rivalry and national pride!

Thu Sep 19, 2013 8:49 pm

Serious question here, I know that we portray we hate each others guts on here (not sure whether we actually do or not or just want our club to be better than the other, and if you do 'hate' it's quite sad and you need to look at yourself as an individual and where you intend to go in life, and thats for both sides! ;) ). But that aside do any of you sense a feeling of pride that 'little ole south wales' has 10% of the premier league? The league that financially is the greatest in the world and yet just a short time ago both of us were languishing in the bottom division thinking a 4000 crowd was a good day? Of course it matters who is the better side and who finishes on top of the other, but on the other hand wouldnt it be better to challenge each other here and gatecrash the English/Worlds top league than petty pointless squabbling in the bowels of the football league? So, are you proud that Wales's football sides have succeeded where Owain Glyndwr failed? ;)

Of course, but thats the point I was making. Lets hope we both WELSH CLUBS stay at the ENGLISH top league and wish the worst on each other from there. Otherwise whats the point in being rivals?

Personally I hope Swansea lose every game. From a national point of view it is good that both teams are in premier league. It certainly annoys bristolians which can't be a bad thing.

It's sad that our national team has been damaged so badly by the 2 idiots currently in charge. Had Gary Speed been in charge we would be close to qualifying for a major championship (not saying we would make it but we would be at least 3rd)

Off topic, but I rather think that there is a clear case that due to the continued success of women's football, that there is the placement of 'Hawkeye' goal-line technology in their shower rooms in order for us to observe their 'pixies purses', 'tattania's and 'rusty sheriffs badges'.There.

I love the fact the Derby now takes place in the Prem!
I'm also still trying to remind myself that I shouldn't be too gutted if you get the better of us as it's expected. You're established in the Prem, we're new kids on the block and naturally one of the favourites for the drop.
Last season I only really cared about our results but would have had a chuckle if you slipped up reading some of your posters comments about how good you were.
I honestly don't give a hoot about where you finish in the league this season as long as we finish 17th or above, but if we did manage to finish above you I would just love it! (Kevin Keegan style) even more so if we finished exactly 17 th. :malky:

As you well know Gaz, we are alive and well in Neath, it's just that we don't walk around with football tops on. I cringe when I see jacks walking around in multi coloured tops, orange, red, f*cking purple and yellow! Maybe that is why my dad took me to Cardiff and not swansea in 1964 for my first game, more cultured ;)

If you think that then you obviously haven't got a clue. Never seen so many City fans getting off the train at Neath after our last home game against Everton, there were 20 - 30 behind me as I was walking out and that's just on one train. Next season when we are getting 33 thousand and you scruffs are still getting 20 thousand we will attract even more from around this area. It kills you and you know it.

Hard to believe that in 1997-1998 both clubs ( and Hull) were in bottom 5 of old division 3 !

Dont hate you, dont really care about you enough to hate you. When the games come round I will and I do have a laugh at some of your poor results and poor attempts at glouting.

Wouldnt say im proud of 10% welsh in the prem as dont consider you, just proud cardiff are in the prem.

I certainly wouldnt spend time on a swansea forum

I think with both teams in the Premiership it will hopefully stop local kids going over the border to enhance their career, yes some will slip through the net but now both teams are doing well they will stay home and learn their trade with both clubs.
