Fri Sep 20, 2013 12:14 am
Referee Mark Clattenburg is the referee for Cardiff v Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday.
Match Appointments
Referee: Mark Clattenburg. Assistants: S Beck, S Child. Fourth Official: A Taylor.
Clattenburg's last game in charge of Cardiff City was the 2012 Carling Cup final when the Bluebirds lost to Liverpool on penalties.
This season, the 38 year old has officiated six games, the last of which was the 6 - 1 win for Real Madrid at Galatasary on Tuesday.
Clattenburg's first game as referee over Cardiff was away at Chesterfield in 2002. On that day he booked Scott Young and Willie Boland.

He's a good referee for us and allowed us to get physical with Liverpool that day. Hopefully we are allowed the same against Spurs.

You obviously never went to Cardiff v Leeds a few years ago when he sent off Chopra for an alleged high kick and Walton for being tripped. Two of the worst ref decisions ever. Only 9 men, but still were too much for Weeds.

He's much better now. I'll judge him on his recent form and not what he did a few years ago.

Can't say i'm a massive fan, always seem to come across with an ego and bit of a power lad and made some shocking calls in games ive watched.

Walton stuck his boot through the fourth officials board. number cards had to held up afterwards in that game.

Awful referee, Having said that he was decent in the League Cup in 2012.

The worst display so far this season I cant remember who reffed our first 4 games and that's sign of a good ref I will remember this plonker for bottling the big decisions if ur going to dissalow a goal for that u will hav to do 5 every game shocking he also let dawson go thru our players 4 times before he finally gave a card out very poor indeed

Tottenham were clearly the better team but the better team doesn't always win. If Clattenburg had done his job properly and sent off Lloris, we would have played 10 men for the majority of the game and I don't think we would have lost. Even after that decision, Clattenburg and his linesmen went on to put in an absolutely embarassing display and they should all be relegated to the lower divisions for such an incompetant performance.

i havent seen the replay, but other saying it was a marginal call. If so, even if a red was the right decision, you can understand why it wasnt given.
That being said, the officials were all poor on Sunday.

To be fair to Clattenburg, he probably couldn't give it if he wasn't sure. But the linesman is supposed to keep up with play, Lloris' hand was a yard outside the box and the linesman should have had a view directly in line with the incident. For the linesman to miss it is inexcusable. If he couldn't keep up with play in the first few minutes, then he isn't up to the pace of the Premiership and not good enough for Premierhsip level. The officials were poor all game, but that decision definitely cost us as it would have left us playing 10 men for pretty much the whole game.
