Wales boss Chris Coleman set to be told: 'Rip up backroom team if you want to keep your job'

FAW bosses are backing their man but believe change is essential if Coleman is to bring the national team success
Wales boss Chris Coleman is set to be told to rip up his backroom team if he wants to keep his job for the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.
The FAW’s powerful International Committee met in Cardiff yesterday to talk about the crisis of the national side following the World Cup debacle against Macedonia and Serbia.
The Welsh FA are still behind under-fire Coleman and want to give him a new two-year deal, with the two parties close to striking agreement.
But concerns were raised yesterday about the quality of Coleman’s backroom staff, the FAW hierarchy believing Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey, Craig Bellamy and Co deserve “world-class” coaching to get the best out of them.
FAW chiefs plan to meet Coleman before next month’s double-header with Macedonia again and Belgium to spell out the need for change.
If Coleman chooses to stand by his men, it is unclear what the next step would be.
Coleman inherited the majority of Gary Speed’s former coaching set-up, with FAW Trust chief Osian Roberts heading up an army of assistants including sports scientists, masseurs, physios and nutritionists.
Roberts, whose day job consists of player and coaching development, is heavily involved in advising Coleman on tactics and preparation for Bale and his team-mates during matches.
Roberts is highly regarded for his work with the FAW Trust. But his position with the Wales senior ide, and that of some of the sports scientists, is being called into question by senior FAW officials.
The Western Mail understands John Hartson’s role as forwards coach was also raised yesterday, although Coleman’s No 2 Kit Symons will be secure from any FAW cull.
The position of Wales Under-21 manager Geraint Williams is also in doubt following his team’s humiliating loss to San Marino.
FAW officials want to keep details of yesterday’s meeting in-house for the time being, but they know action is required to appease Welsh fans clamouring for Coleman to go.
A high-ranking FAW source told us: “We still back Chris and we believe it’s right to give him a new contract. But something has got to change here to stop this downward spiral of results.
“We pay an absolute fortune for the huge support staff who are there for every Wales match, but something is not right.
“There is a growing belief Chris needs better support on the coaching side. He needs to get in a world-class coach, someone who has been at the top level of the game, to get the best out of Bale, Ramsey and co.
“They are accustomed to that at club level and we need to give it to them with Wales, too”

I f i'm reading that then the FAW want to get rid of coaching staff who were doing ok with Speed as well as supporting Coleman as long as he changes backroom staff??? How are the coaching staff not doing so well under Coleman> is it because he will not listen to them? are they not behind him and his tactics? do they resent Hartson and others coming in? One thing is clear... Its a shambles.

Dutch Ray has his say
How cheap is this? Let's sacrifice staff to save face of the incompetent manager (and the people who appointed him)
https://twitter.com/raymondverheijeI think everyone who is Welsh agrees with him (except for them idiotic FAW or pundits)

He's bang on. Its the FAW Muppet Show that should go, along with Coco Coleman & His Teeth Of Doom. Something needs to be done to oust these incompetent oafs post-haste, else the cycle continues. Speed had to operate independently from these parochial buffoon nincompoops.

At least that idiot Hartson will get the boot, not that much consolation though if we are stuck with Coleman

What he needs is somebody to organise him and remind him that, apart from a squad, he also needs to take his passport with him
