Why does the site ban me..

Fri Sep 13, 2013 6:15 pm

for replying to posters with 6 or more posts?

I mean when I replied to Annis, it said sorry you've reached your maxim of quotes in the post, what's that about? I then have to go back and delete certain posts within the post for me to post a reply. Thought you could do multiply posts

Any ideas why my reply's are being blocked?

Never thought of that to be honest so when I go back and delete certain post and then post then on reading the post I posted then looks jargan. Did that sound Jargan what I posted? That's how I see my posts when have to edit them :laughing6:

We shouldn't have to copy and paste but shall do if it means the posts are clearer for board members to read. Owen, what is going on and please could you post an explanation as to why this happening and this error is occurring.

Kindest regards as always.

It doesn't allow you to post more than 6 quotes in each post, mainly because it means that the posts become messy and unreadable. It's standard for most forums tbh.

I do apologize Mr Chuckles as totally by passed you post. But it's not messy and unreadable is it as if we didn't have the problem that I pointed out then it would be fine. It only becomes unreadable is when the likes of me have to go back and delete posts and try and figure out where to put the quote at the end of each post then that in itself becomes messy and tiresome.

Red wine, Merlo, very nice in fact, nice and relaxing speaking with like minded people. You can laugh that 20 up, thought I'd let you enjoy it while it lasted but 16 years? is far to long so I need to repaying. Don't worry, laugh it up while you can because we have a double or quits on it, more like quadruple now

Sounds like a serious bottle of wine!

Not laughing the bet up fella, just thought we should have another one sometime soon. :D

It is about 16ish years ago, though so perhaps it was worth quadruple then eh?

As has been mentioned it's a fairly standard feature to stop people quoting loads of posts each time they reply.

I've increased the limit, so it should happen less often now. The best thing to do is try and delete the first few quotes, but I know it can end up being a bit complicated.

Quality Steve, Quality instead of quantity, now you should now that. I'll have a wager but we'll not meet unless it's a cup match so think we should have a double header.

Hull - Cardiff
Reading - Brighton

£60.

Its to do with memory.

Text, believe it or not actually uses a lot of data when you break it down to bytes/bits. Every char uses data and it all adds up. When you have numerous quotes taking up posts then it uses more data which takes up space on the server which can then lead to downtime etc or slow loading which people moan about.

Its the same reason Facebook minifies its class names and so on in PHP/JavaScript/CSS.

Look up premature optimisation and parsing.
