" Key players in the Hull game "

Last season 2-2

Odds: Hull 6/4, Draw 23/10, Cardiff 9/4

Both sides will be relatively happy with their work before the international break, with both sides picking up four points from their first three games as they settle into life in the top flight. In a game that may be earmarked to win by both sides, here is a look at who could be the key players at the KC Stadium.

Cardiff could welcome back record signing Andreas Cornelius from injury, whilst Abdoulaye Faye could be considered for selection for the home side. Alan McGregor misses out through injury, meaning that Steve Harper will deputise in goal.

The bookies seem to only just favour Hull for this one, but that might be down to home advantage.

Frazier Campbell – Aside from captain Craig Bellamy, Campbell is probably Cardiff’s go to man at the moment given the display he put on against Manchester City in the Welsh side’s opening home game of the season. He scored in this fixture last season, and will be keen to upset his former employers again.

Danny Graham – Hull City have only managed to score one league goal so far this season, courtesy of a penalty from Robbie Brady. Hull seem to be a pretty solid side, but they will want their main striker to start delivering in the final third of the field, quickly.

Robert Koren – Part of the Tigers’ engine room and is going to be key going into any match. He had a pretty good game against Manchester City and a good performance against Cardiff from their captain will be just what they need. If he plays well, Cardiff may have a difficult afternoon.

Peter Whittingham – Though his capabilities with a dead ball are talked about a great deal, Whittingham will be looked to by his team-mates to assert a bit of control on the game. A good display from him in the midfield could be the difference between Cardiff leaving empty handed or not.

Sone Aluko – He was probably the villain of the piece in Hull’s last league match as he had a golden opportunity to put the Tigers ahead at Manchester City but squandered it. Having said that, he is one of those players who can go and win the game with one moment of brilliance, and his quick feet can sometimes be too much for a defender to handle. He had an injury scare during the international break but there are indications that he will be ok to play on Saturday.

Last time they met

Hull City 2-2 Cardiff City May 2013, Championship.

At the climax of the Championship season, a win would’ve guaranteed Hull promotion to the Premier League. After a goalless first half, Cardiff drew first blood five minutes into the second half through Fraizer Campbell. Nick Proschwitz equalised for the Tigers less than ten minutes later before Paul McShane put Hull in front. Into stoppage time and Hull were awarded a penalty only for Proschwitz’s spot-kick to be saved by David Marshall. From then on, Cardiff went down the other end of the field, where Abdoulaye Faye was adjudged to have handled the ball inside his own area, allowing Nicky Maynard to equalise from the spot, giving Hull a nervous wait as they were relying on Watford not to win their final game at Leeds. Leeds scored a late winner, allowing for scenes of jubilation at the KC Stadium.

Without doubt our key player for me is Gary Medel. Coming deep for the ball, getting play started and obviously breaking up and tackling their attacking movement.

i think he is too attacking for Malky, especially away from home.

His insistence on beating the man more than once often means he loses the ball, and he doesnt really track back enough for the managers liking.

That's why Poyet got shot of him for. I'd love him back as he'd fit right in now. Peoblem with Noone he wasn't allowed to exspress himself under Poyet as he the shackles on all the time. Under Garcia he'd flourish.
