Anyone Sold Their Own House..?

Depending on what happens on a house I view tomorrow I will be putting mine on the market. Either that or I will put it up sometime within the next 6 months. Has anyone tried to sell their own house?

While estate agents may take the hassle away from yourselves, I dont fancy them taking between 1% - 3% just to sell it if I can help it.

Has anyone done this? Any tips?

I sold a house a few years ago and regretted using an estate agent.

I had it on the market for a couple of weeks and nothing much was happening so I paid to put my own advert in a local newspaper. Just a small advert by the lettings and sales section. Cost about £25 I think.

From that advert I had a chap come round. I showed him around and he said he will offer the full asking price. Frustratingly I had to direct him to the estate agents from there.

Well pissed off. I was young then but I have regretted it big time

Im thinking the same. With facebook etc im hoping I can get the house around the area. Fancy having a go anyway, especially if it saves me potentially 2k odd

I sold my house in 2006. The council went absolutely ape shit!

Sold mine with 4 walls for sale in 2003.One off payment of £199 and you show the people round,Had peter alan out and they said put it up for £149,000.4 walls told me put it at £159,000 and first person give me full asking price,Saved me about £12000 in the long run.

It might work for some but not everyone has the confidence to set the price and conduct negotiations, or know how to handle things if it's not going smoothly. With 80% of enquiries originating online you also have to be on Rightmove, Zoopla etc and only agents can do that.

I sold my 1st house.....put a for sale board up myself....10 mins later a knock on the door from someone accross the road.....sold to her sister who wanted to move close.

Instructed a Licensed conveyancer to complete..job done.
