i've applied for the Wales job

Wed Sep 11, 2013 7:45 pm

Chris Colemans' number is up soon enough and the early bird catches the worm so I have made the move.

As someone with years of experience playing FIFA and LMA Manager (old school on PS2 for the Football Manager elite yuppies) I think I am perfectly suited to the job.

I have penned a 800 word cover letter and my CV to the FAW and I await their response.

I have also said that I'm willing to do the job for around 50% of his current salary and they can keep the other 50% for the Christmas shenanigans. I've suggested Macedonia 2013 as the place to hold the party. I know that will appeal to them greatly.

If successful I will need an assistant manager and would be honoured if Dando would take the position.

Bookies are favouring Wee Jimmy Cranky as the front runner, closely followed by a tin of old paint.

I applied for a Job a couple of years ago with, the FAW. At the time they were looking for a Kit Manager. The Job Profile that came with the application pack said: "have to be committed to travel all around Europe with all levels of the National teams" from, U17s through to the Senior Side. It included the Women as well. Was well keen so, decided to apply.

Got through the First stage and, to the first interview stage. This involved a general knowledge interview about what I knew about Welsh Football in general. Anyway this was with the Head of Public Affairs with the Faw. He asked me all sorts about who was the Manager of the side from 1970S THROUGH TO THE CURRENT DAY which I answered every Manager who has managed the team through the years. Also, Had to name as many European Cities as possible within the European Union. Also, what games had I been to being a Supporter of the National team. So, listed all the cities that I can remember since watching Wales away since 90s. Suitably impressed, they asked what it meant to me to get this Job and what it involved having to be away from home for possibly 3/4 of the year at any one time. I answered this question with all my heart even more than passionately than when i'm telling my missus what it means to be with her-you get the drift?

I answered as if it was me who would be responsible for getting the team to a major Tournament!! I was telling this Guy how I would make the team look resplendent when they walked out in front of the supporters, How the visiting sides would be in awe of how well the side looked; and it was this approach that would get results. Really milking the opportunity-you know!

It must have worked because I got a second interview! a month later. This time though it was in front of the FAW old heads made up of the senior Council Members of the FAW, either side of the Chief Executive. They interviewed me for a solid 2 hours, each one of them in turn asked me their own take on who they are seeking to work for them. I got the impression with those guys that if you are noyt willing to tow the line then they are not interested one bit! I imagine that the same has happened when Coleman had his interview. I came out of the Place feeling like a I had been in front of A firing Squad.

Now, I can imagine what the atmosphere inside the Welsh camp is by experiencing a few hours in the company of it-only for a few hours! It is an Organization that is rigid in its belief that they are knowing that they will not reach a major tournament and are stuck in their old ways.

Whoever gets the job, good luck because working for them Paymasters-they are going to do things their way - or its no way!
