Dejected Wales boss Chris Coleman insists: 'I have no intention of going anywhere'
Coleman says he has every intention of signing a new contract and leading Wales into European Championship qualifying despite recent results
11th Sept 2013.
Chris Coleman saw supporters turn on him as Wales slumped to the bottom of their World Cup qualifying group after crashing to their heaviest home defeat in seven years but insisted: "I'm still thr right man to take us forward".
Sections of the Cardiff City Stadium crowd called for Coleman’s head at the end of the desperate 3-0 loss to Serbia.
Not even Gareth Bale’s introduction as a second-half sub could stop Wales in an abject display which the Wales manager described as “soul-destroying”.
Goals from Filip Djordjevic, Aleksandar Kolarov and Lazar Markovic put the game beyond Wales, who never looked like avenging the 6-1 mauling they suffered at the hands of the same opponents in Novi Sad a year ago.
Bale, a pre-match doubt due to a groin problem, appeared just before the hour to get his first action since joining Real Madrid to become the world’s most expensive player.
He almost scored a wonderful late free-kick, which was about as good as it got for the hosts as they suffered their sixth defeat from eight qualifying games.
The Dragons were booed off at the final whistle, but Coleman has no intention of stepping aside, and fully expects to sign the two-year contract extension he has agreed with the Football Association of Wales.
Wales 0 - 3 Serbia
“I have every intention of leading this side into the next qualification campaign,” he said.
“We have two wins out of eight, which is not good but I am still excited about the group we could have available.
“The next campaign will be a better one.”
He added: “The contract has been agreed, although I have not signed it, but if I thought I could not affect this group of players I would not waste my country’s time.
“We can do something special, with a fresh run at it.
“But, as a whole, the next two or four years will be our best chance to do something with this group of players.”
He added: ``I am the same man as I was last week when the contract was agreed. I know football is short-term and that is how it has gone, but we did not perform tonight.
“But I am looking at the whole situation and the game, I will speak with the powers that be (about signing my contract), but I have not thought about when I will sign it.
“I know sections of the crowd weren’t happy but I don’t blame them.”
Coleman admitted the defeat had been “soul-destroying”, and that defensive errors had made Wales’ task impossible.
He said: “We gave away two silly goals, and that has been the pattern of our campaign.
“We have been too naive at times, if you keep backing off sides only one thing will happen.
“The goals we gave away were poor, it’s soul-destroying.
“I was excited for these two games, thinking we could get three points in Macedonia, where I fancied us, and go into this game with a strong side and Gareth playing a bigger part.
“But it was not to be and I have to take responsibility for that, I am the manager.”
Coleman introduced Bale for the final 32 minutes of the game, when Wales were already 3-0 down.
And there were some eye-catching contributions from the world’s most expensive player as he played his first football since his move to Real Madrid, including a superb swerving, dipping free-kick which was only just kept out by the Serbia goalkeeper.
Coleman was happy with Bale’s outing, but believes he is still some way short of full fitness ahead of his potential bow for Real this weekend.
“He played 30 minutes but after 15 minutes he looked tired – but he has only had four training sessions, so you will not get what you normally get,” he said.
“But he gave us a lift, the fans were excited and it gave us a spur, although the game was done and dusted.
“We needed to be in the game, it was lost by then, but it was nice for the Welsh supporters to see him.”
He added: “If he starts Saturday he will not finish the game, I would be amazed if he does.
“He is nowhere near ready for 90 minutes even if Spanish football is slower.
“He may get 45 minutes, I don’t know, but he will feel better in himself after 30 minutes.”
Bale himself tweeted after the game: “Great to finally get back to playing tonight, shame about the result though. Can’t wait to get to Madrid tomorrow £halamadrid”

This is going to be an episode of a hate relationship between supporters and management.
It will take a miracle for Coleman to turn around the fans. His PR skills are on the same level as Dave Jones so whatever he does good will go unnoticed. I hope he is as thick skinned as Jones for his own sake.

We are just a laughing stock, I can't even watch Wales on TV now it too embarrassing.

He's getting worried you can tell, that's why he keeps mentioning that a contract's been agreed.
Wed Sep 11, 2013 7:56 am
Absolutely gutting if it does come to fruition and he signs a new contract. They should play games behind closed doors now if that's the case
Wed Sep 11, 2013 8:15 am
See he starting to blame others already. No class. No clue. Goodbye Coleman and close the door behind you

The guys a complete joke and an arrogant tosser to boot.
That said, the Welsh FA are even bigger jokers for offering this clown a new contract in the middle of what has been a piss poor campaign.
Its not as if he is a sought after manager that needed tieing down.

The FAW cocked up by putting all their eggs in his basket half way through a campaign. Now Coleman keep publicly bringing this contract up to make it near impossible for them to go back on it i think.

Chris Coleman - 'I have no intentions of going anywhere' - he clearly still can't find his passport!

Time to go, time to go, time to go, f**k off.

Could the FAW withdraw the contract ?
Do they have the balls to say to Coleman, we want to wait until the end of this qualifying campaign to reconsider?
The contract has not been signed - we all live in hope

Money talks....
The Gareth Bale show may continue to attract sky, but I can't see them paying the FAW much to show the games. As for the attendance the FAW probably lost money on last nights games, so its probably Llanelli as the home of Welsh international football from now on

Course they can,and should .They could easily say its been a bad group and they want to look elsewhere ,even more so seeing that if it carries on no one will be going to watch games in the near future with him in charge.
It needs a new input someone to get behind the players and get the crowd back,if we go into the next tournament and lose the first 2-3 games the crowds wont show again.
The contract may have been drawn up but nop one has signed it so they can easily withdraw it.

Six words describes it all!
Chris Coleman is a shit manager!
Wed Sep 11, 2013 10:17 am
He's just not bright enough. But who replaces Coleman?

Christ on a bike. Do the same thing, get the same results. Coco Coleman and The FAW Muppets should all go. This cannot continue. I will support Wales through thick (Coco) and thin as I have done with City. Last night was painful. I looked at the Macedonia advert on the boards and I honestly believe they should be paying us to turn up to watch it. So I'm back to the same feeling as watching Wales pre-Gary Speed. He proved that the manager makes the difference. Coco just doesn't have it and yes, no one can replace Speedo but things can't be much worse at the second, can they? Horrible phrase but 'Revolution, not Evolution" seems apt.

Trapattoni is now available, did well and thought he got Ireland punching above their weight

It was so abject last night that I actually turned over and watched England - never done that before. I will not attend a Wales game while Coleman is in charge. He has been a liability from day one when he tried to get Shawcross to play alongside Ramsey. The players obviously don't rate him either nor his idiot mate Hartson.
For the good of the nation that he claims to care about he should go now and at least give us a chance for the Euros

You make some good points but Gary Speed reign wasn't all sweetness and light and he had a poor start to. I would give Coleman a 2 year contract, in other words for the next Euro Qualifying campaign and make it pretty dam sure he understands he is judged on results from now on.

He didn't Tony but I remember at the close off the first half v Montenegro 2/9/2011 when Wales 'clicked'. It was a revelation that proved that the correct manager and set-up is the catalyst. I worked out of London on the Tuesday just to watch the England game (sat behind Annis) and it was amazing to see England nervous and on the back foot as we made strong play - a game that we won in spirit if not the goal result. We had belief.
Wales now has two premiership clubs who are both strong. We battered England in the Egg. This stuff goes around the world. All from lil 'ole Wales. The elephant in the room for me is the FAW. We have to step our national set-up to reflect our aspirations and it has to start at the top to effect the bottom. Greg Dyke knows the issues for England and I think he will effect change there. GB as a whole are now several years if not more behind key footballing nations and also some of those that have emerged over the last 10 years. I would love to see Coleman make a success of this and be proved wrong but I just don't think he has the stones for this and I don't want to be another two years down the line thinking "just why do I bother?" whilst drinking shit tea on a cold Tuesday night. Glenn Hoddle talks a lot of sense in the changes that need to be made right down to quality parks coaching and good old fashioned ball control basics. I actually wouldn't mind seeing him coming here. Something needs to happen post-haste

It goes deeper than Coleman I'm afraid ...... after all the U21's handed San Marino their 1st footballing victory in donkeys years on Friday night , where do we go from here ??
Wed Sep 11, 2013 12:36 pm
If Coleman gets another contract and stays with us for another two years i'll lose all faith in humanity.
The guys got a degree in being a prick ffs.
Wed Sep 11, 2013 12:57 pm
I cringe at everything he has said
Leaving Bale on the bench v MACEDONIA for mind games
Having a go at Collins for not playing yesterday, he hasnt cared about wales for years
Now him suggesting Madrid dont play Bale for 90mins, like Ancolotti needs his help
Then throw that in with shit poor negaitve football and making an englishman welsh captain I cant think of a worse time for the national team.

To many dinosaurs in the welsh fa, the want a yes man in charge and that's exactly what they got in Coleman. Speedo done a great job in turning a team playing with no confidence into a team willing to attack the opposition instead of trying to hold on in games as they were when he took over. It did take him a while but once the confidence was installed within this group of players they looked as good on the pitch as they did on paper.
the next campaign could be our best chance of going to the finals for years and I'm afraid with Coleman in charge might be a chance missed(hope he proves me wrong).
The speedo days had a good following of supporters, compare that with last night and it is plain to see the damage the Coleman has already done!
Ill always support the boys and spend my money following them but its harder to part with your hard earned cash when the belief is gone.

Did I also read something along the lines of "this is a great time to be Wales manager, this is the best group of Welsh players for a long time" ?
If Coleman stays in charge much longer, it will cost the FAW severely, the fans voted with their feet last night. We had a decent chance to finish third in this group meaning a much better seeding for the European Champs. His football is boring, his flannel over the Bale scenario was embarrassing, mentioning Collins a pathetic attempt to deflect from a really poor home performance.
Finally, his constant mention of an unsigned contract stinks of a guy who is showing signs of desperation.
If he is a proud Welshman he should admit he's got no hope and step aside and allow somebody else the opportunity the lift the team for our final 2 games and at least have an opportunity of beating Macedonia and not finishing bottom.

Having witnessed a poor Welsh performance last night, it is time that the FAW had the balls to get rid of Coleman. This is the same group of players Speedo had, granted they didn't start well but they bought into what he wanted to do, including learning and singing the national anthem, and we kicked on from there. Coleman does not have the respect of the players or the supporters like Hughesy or Speed and never will, plus his back room staff are a joke. I have never been so demoralised as a supporter of the Welsh Football Team.

well heres one who the FAW will not be having money off until they get rid of coco coleman,
