Anyone remember this Nigel Ben fight and Mancs/Brums?

Mon Sep 09, 2013 12:53 pm

Boxing was always my second sport and I use to love watching Nigel Ben fights, he never gave in and always gave his all, exciting fights(he has a villa in Santa Ponsa).

Anyone remember when the Zulus and Mancs fought at one of Bens fights?

Football and Boxing are the only 2 good sports IMO.

I went to see Calzaghe at the Millenium once and the best fight of the night was not in the ring.

Annis you'll remember that Robbie McCracken was a main Zulu. Once in a row between Huddersfield and Birmingham one of the Hudds older lads ended up in hospital with his jaw wired up from one punch. The police knew who did it but needed Hudds lads to talk. Huddersfield told the police they knew nothing and I was told at the time, as a thank you McCracken and several Birmingham looked after the guy and his family with private compensation. He later went on to fight for the middleweight world title and now he trains Carl Froch

Not a lad you'd want a toe to toe with at that time

Thank f**k for that. Since this thread I was racking my brains thinking who was the boxer the Zulus used to follow in the 90s. I was thinking Richie Woodhall, hes a brummie also, but having seen his suit and tie combos on Sky there was no way he was a football lad. Not a dresser anyway.

Ricky hatton allegedly got into trouble at Sheffield utd with man city. Same sort of thing palms were greased and it went away so hatton could get on with his career.
Also the Barry boys had a big off with the Zulus at a Barrie jones fight in brum
