Oh no. I was so looking forward to this. Darran Aronovsky (The Wrestler, Black Swan) was gonna direct this but pulled out. I guess that's why Oldman and Jackson signed on... But that looks shyyeete.

Every great film has a great antagonist.

As we're talking remakes and movies....I really enjoyed the Dark Knight Batman trilogy (anyone else) ....and am extremely pissed off that Ben (bumboy) Afflek is going to be next to play Batman v Superman, and really fook it up

Loved the first two. Which backs up Shino's point about ED-209 and baddies. The joker is one of cinemas best antagonists for me which is why the second film is such a stand out. Can't say the same for Dark Knight Rises. Thought Blane was rubbish, his stupid 'I'm a villain voice" brought me out of the film, and he just leans against a pillar for the whole middle part of the film. In the second one, the Joker is fur king everyone up by that point. I think all the studio people just yes'd Nolan to death by the third film and the result was bad.

Batman V Superman. I appreciate the comics are a cult hit and all that but really it sounds like a dumb idea. Batman worked because they made it real and tangible. Superman hasn't worked since the Richard Donner ones because they try to be too real when the idea of Superman is so proposterous. The two characters should never be in the same universe for me so I don't care if 'Academy Award Winner Ben Affleck' is in it. It will be arce anyway.

Batman need to be done real and edgy. Superman needs to be light and tongue and cheek.

Nolans Batmans are possibly the benchmark for any decent comic book movie now.


Ledgers Joker portrayal is up there with Hopkins-Lector and Nicholson's-Shining.


I was facking pissed when the Batfleck was announced.

HOWEVER......

When you break the character down, what do we judge batman on? It isn't his suited performance... It's his Wayne performance.

Keaton was bombed by the press before Burtons 89 flick.

"How can Mr Mom be Batman?"

BUT,He pulled it off,and it was the Wayne performance that did it.


Begins was almost ignored by all corners and because that it is an origins and is mostly a Bruce movie they pulled it off.
I though Bale was excellent,just hated the Batvoice.


I genuinely feel because its not an origins movie and it is not any connection with Nolans Dark Knight Tril,Batfleck will be ok.
I think they will do the opposite of Marvel and introduce all angles,instead now they've opened up with Kal-el they will just throw them all into the mix. Can see the Martian Man Hunter,Brainiac,Flash,WonderWoman.
They will appear based on the company assuming its audience knows the franchise and its players.


Affleck has the charisma to be Wayne and the Build to be a Bat.


More intrigued to find out who Luthor will be played by? There was a rumour that Breaking Bads Walt (Brian Cranston) was being cast. Sadly this was just a Tiniternt rumour.

Yeah I think Michael Keaton worked well. Tim Burton said he cast him because he wanted Bruce Wayne to be vulnerable and the last person who you would expect to be a superhero. The suit becomes more than just physical armour, it is metaphorical. Keaton also gave Batman a light and witty touch.

If they combine the Superman/Batman universe I think they would both have to budge in tone. They would both have to go light as in Burton's batman/Donner's Superman. Something along the lines of Iron Man.

Either way I'm really looking forward to it anyway. I'm more of a corduroy wearing Coen Brothers fan. They're next film is about a Welsh superhero from the Rhondda... It's called Inside Llewyn Davis...

I seem to remember people not wanting Heath Ledger for the Joker when it was announced, that didn't end up too bad.. maybe he will shock us? I'm rooting for him

The problem is whoever follows the last batman film really doesn't have a chance, especially if they go back the the comic book type batman and not the overly dark type.
