" CARDIF CITY FOOTBALL CLUB TODAY ANNOUNCED "
'Non League' Day

Thursday 5th Sept 2013.

No match for Cardiff City this Saturday because of the International break, so we are encouraging fans to support “Non-League Day” by attending a game to show support for grass-roots football. What, then are your local and Welsh options this weekend?

BARRY TOWN UNITED: Our re-formed neighbours have an attractive match at home (Jenner Park) against Rhondda side AFC Llwydcoed in a Welsh league Cup tie (2.00pm). Barry, who will be managed for this game by their assistant-boss Damon Searle (a member of Cardiff City’s Commercial Staff), have won all their games so far, and will be looking to continue their 100% record.

MERTHYR TYDFIL: Currently playing their home matches at Cinderford because of the renewal of the Penydarren Park pitch, Merthyr host Calor League Division One (South and West) leaders Swindon Supermarine (3.00pm). Merthyr are fourth in the table with three wins and a draw from their five games, Supermarine are unbeaten with four wins and a draw from their five matches.

There are also a good number of quality Welsh Premier League games on the weekend schedule, namely Afan Lido v Bangor City, Airbus UK Broughton v Newtown, Bala Town v The New Saints, Carmarthen Town v Rhyl, Port Talbot Town v Aberystwyth Town and Prestatyn Town v Gap Connahs Quay. For details of each game visitwww.welshpremier.co.uk

But if you would rather watch league football, then Newport County of League Two are at home to Mansfield Town (3.00pm) at Rodney Parade, County having an encouraging start to their return to league status after a 25-year absence.

Can't believe the club are trying to encourage fans to support Newport County on the weekend, they'd be our rivals if were in the same league and their fans hate us.

Just listened to the founder of the 'non league for a day' movement on talksport.

Some clubs offer discounts to PL & Championship season ticket holders on international weekends.

i changed at the last minute and opted for the STM v Trelewis game

a decent game with some good football played but STM won 2-1 and were worthy winners in the end

cubano yes i know he was a dodgy ref :)
