Keeping faith with our championship winning squad....

Tue Sep 03, 2013 7:32 am

Yes we've signed 8 new players, yet 2 of them are for the development squad, whilst brayford seems to be destined for the bench at best. Cornelius looks like someone who will come off the bench until he gets fits and adapts to this standard.

So far our team has been the same as last season with the exception of medel and caulker. Apart from these 2, at this stage I can only see theopole and odemwingie making the starting 11.

So, will MMs faith in the squad that brought us to the PL be rewarded?

Doom and gloom post, never can please some people. Why would u want to do a palace and buy a brand new squad? where it will take them a long time to gel etc, at end of the day the players that are in the squad deserve to be there due to them getting us there, would be very harsh to drop them thats for sure. we will be fine, have faith mun

Totally agree here, the only 1 more player i think we could of needed is a flying winger who can wip a good cross in. There's always the loan market tho

What loan market
There is no loan market for premiership teams
Only for football league teams
However premiership teams can sign free agents
But have to name there 25 man squad very soon
Not sure if they can leave places open or not (but probably cant ) anyway
Imo malky has done more than well for us and has enough for us to more than just survive this season
And theres allways the january window
So come on lets get behind every one of our players and give them the support they deserve
Lets ban negative /moaning threads and be positve ffs
We are premier league say we are premier league :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

It's not doom and gloom, I'm asking a question. Where did I say I wanted a brand new squad? My point was we keep quoting 8 signings yet in reality it seems more like 4 or 5, therefore pointing out that MM is basically keeping faith with last years squad.

a couple of sides including Norwich, Swansea have done this in the past both have done fine and then just built on it year after year, it's all about spending wisely.

Well I was one who certainly thought that we could struggle this season, unless we brought in more Premier League proven players, who would improve the team in certain positions!

I was more concerned after the first game at West Ham, but having despatched Man City back to Lancashire with their tails between their legs and having witnessed a very accomplished performance, which gave us a creditable draw against Everton as well, I'm now far more confident about the season ahead!

Malky has certainly added wisely in bringing in 2 quality players in Caulker & Medel and with several of our unproven players at Premier League level, like Whitts, Taylor, Gunnarsson & Whitts, all showing that they can make the step up, things are looking a lot more rosy!

With Fraizer Campbell showing his pedigree, great work ethic and undoubted bravery to date, along with what appear to be a couple of good astute signings in KTC & Odemwingie, I'm more than quietly confident of a mid table finish, although I'd still be delighted with finishing above the bottom 3 clubs come May 2014!

It's still going to be a very long season and we have to show some consistency, but if Cornelius and other fringe players can show that they're capable of making the step up, we keep up our team work ethic, then I can only see good things happening at City!
