Capital City 1 Fishing Village 0

Welsh Wigan really really wanted Odemwingie but the Capital City of Wales was a much better proposition for him. 'Cardiff City blew Swansea Town's offer out of the water' by all accounts.

Don't try and compete with your capital, Welsh Wigan...............the BIG BOYS ARE HERE NOW!!

Posting things like this is stupid and could come back to haunt us. I can't stand the jacks and hope they lose every game but you are showing small club mentality by saying such things. Odinwinge chose us not because of facilities or the relative cities. We offered more money and a mercenary accepted.

2.5million... Something Swansea obviously couldn't stretch to. :laughing6:

The guy wanted to come to us but we did not want to pay 2.5 mil for a 32 year old and a player with a bad attitude.
We got a player for the future and happy with that thanx.

He has a chance to prove himself now. I guess he realised that the attendances at the council owned rugby stadium means he wouldn't be proving himself to many people , so he opted to do it at a bigger ground !

It's great to see that a newly promoted club can outdo more established clubs like Stoke and Swansea. Even if fans of those clubs can't quite come to admit it, it's only what we have always known and that is, that Cardiff are a bigger club

Imagine a player they are trying to sign being taken to the ground in order to persuade him to sign :-
Player :- What are these markings on the pitch ?
SCFC :- That's a rugby pitch son
Player :- I don't play rugby
SCFC :- Don't worry about that son , at least 4,000 of our attendance know the rules of football
Player :- Where's the football ground ?
SCFC :- Ah well , you see son , we haven't actually got one
Player :- You haven't got a football ground ? But you're a football team ?
SCFC :- Well , you see , the local council let us play on this pitch sometimes
Player :- What are the songs I heard the crowd singing on those youtube clips ?
SCFC :- They were good old rugby songs son , learn 'em and you'll be a favourite here
Player :- But I'm a footballer ?
SCFC :- Aye lad , but you're six foot at least so if the council say you gotta play for the rugby team instead then that's that
Player :- f**k this , I'm off to Cardiff City

They know the score, that's why they are so upset and bitter, they know they can't compete, and it's only matter of time before they drop down to their natural level

Small-town club borrowing the Ospreys council owned stadium......

We've paid £2.5m+ for un unwanted and nearly out of contract 32-year-old who has had a pretty poor record in front of goal the last 2 seasons

The Jacks have signed an up-and-coming Spanish U21 striker for £1m as back-up - come on guys, get real FFS

Hopefully Odemwingie will score some goals to keep us up and his fee will then be worth it :thumbright: :malky:

It is. Good player, good goal ratio.

All everyone talks about is his supposed bad attitude.. No actual evidence of this, all people talk about is him getting bad advice getting told to go to QPR.

He is a good player which is why Ccfc, stoke and you lot were interested. If Malky can keep him happy we have a very good player. If things go wrong we have an idiot. Personally I think Malky knows what he is doing and we have a player that improves our squad. Only time will tell.

When you consider we've signed Frazier Campbell (who is a far better and younger player) for £600k when in his final year of contract - it puts this inflated bid into context.

I bet WBA are pissing themselves all the way to the bank, ready to stump-up a decent loan fee for Lakaku. Surely a better option for us???

According to your logic, lets not bother buying players, lets just get loanees in  £2.5 million is a small fee if he can provide 5-10 goals and on past form there's no reason why he can't. He's 32, but has pace to burn, if he was that average why were Stoke, West Ham and our little ugly brothers in for him? We paid a similar fee for Velonkya and he hasn't got a game yet. He has versatility to his game, which we are in need of. Time will tell

Why? If they get lukaku they have him for 30 odd games. We have odinwinge for 3 seasons. Campbell had option of per contract agreement with other teams and a poor injury record. 650k was good deal. If odinwinge scores 8-10 goals and provides half a dozen assists he will have made a massive contribution to our survival bid.

yeh odemwingie is really shite......

oh wait he has he scored 30 goals in 87 games? This includes sub appearances which includes 12 from last year alone.

Ah well swansea fans at their finest once again! :ayatollah:

so 1 in 3 games ... yeh 2.5m for someone who could score 10 goals which could be very crucial!
