Why did we sign Brayford?

Sun Sep 01, 2013 10:19 am

With our 2 Kevin's as RB cover, will he even make a match squad this season?

Re: Why did we sign Brayford?

I think he will be second choice right back as Connolly is fourth choice centre back. But to be honest I thought that he would have been a starter.

The way I see it, there are 3 possibilities

1 - The new Kev play anywhere across the back 4.. I would imagine he is not backup so perhaps left back?
2 - Malky said we were tracking him for a while but decided on brayford however when he got here, he's either done something to annoy Malky (a la etien) or just simply not as good as we thought so needed KTC.
3 - Connoly's RB days are over and now we have KTC on the right with brayford as backup while Connoly is now a backup CB along with Hudson

I'm hoping its 3, because dropping taylor would be too harsh and 2 would just be another waste of money..

Malky is a perfectionist, and Brayford doesn't seem to have reached the standards required to earn a place in a Malky eleven. Hopefully things will improve

Things like the Brayford situation goes to show that Malky doesn't accept anything less than 120% in every aspect of his players. We're in safe hands

Didnt think about it in that way.. nobody can get everything perfect, however takes a special manager to not be so stubborn and play him anyway hoping it will prove him right rather than do what's best for the team. We got ourselves a gem with Malky thats for sure :malky:

Spot on Tony. I agree with this. Training is everything and if they cant put the effort in during training then why should they get match time? I reckon Eti was just lazy and thats why he hasn't got his chance and rather than fight for it he wants to go back home and being the big fish in the small pond again. Let him as far as im concerned. At least Rudy is passionate, tries and wants to do right by the club and fans.

I've faith in MM and think he's doing a great job, but some of his signings like velinkonja, Lappin an now brayford seem to have wasted a lot of money in fees and wages we could have used elsewhere. I appreciate it doesn't always work out for players coming to a new team but I'd love us to get 2 attacking players in before the window shuts but will we have the funds?

McNaughton will not get near the starting 11 this season, Malky only renewed his contract for a year out of loyalty for everything he has given to the club, so we essentially only have 2 right backs. Brayford and Theo :D

Conolly is not the answer. Brayford will give us far more going forward especially if the midfield are going to be as narrow as they are.

As a team we look like rabbits caught in the headlights going forward.

The Lappin signing was a complete load of bollocks

Can't believe people are writing off Brayford straight away. He's just being eased in, people were writing Kim off a this point too.

Conolly was really good vs ManCity and people are too eager to throw him under the bus. Our real problem yestday was Kim didn't play very well and he's the link to the final third. I think Catherine will be cover for LB but well see at east we have some options there now.

At last!!!

Someonelse who also thought Kim was poor yesterday.

Gives the ball away more than he keeps it and in dangerous areas too.

MOTM? No chance

Brayford should be in the squad not Connolly.

Why should Brayford just walk into the team? Different to Caulker and Medel as there is a clear step up in class to what we have. MM obviously has faith in Connolly and Brayford needs to work hard to earn his spot.

People were rating him 8 and 9's out of ten haha. In the second half he got better which is why we were slightly better in the second half. But Fellaini bossed him all game, which is odd because he gave Toure a hiding.

It is strange why Bradford isn't starting perhaps what cg said above could explain it! But Connelly was being turned inside out by baines yesterday from where i was sitting! My 6 year old son even noticed how he kept backing off them and giving them to much time!! (His words he's not tackling)

Going forward he had a few skills but defensively I thought (and I think Everton knew) he was our weak link!!

Malky spent the 1st half screaming at him. Cant f**k around on edge of your own box.

There is nothing wrong with Brayford's ability but Malky doesn't like his attitude that's the reason why he wont get his chance and be loaned out to another club asap
