A message for pro blues

Sun Sep 01, 2013 9:46 am

Although the battle to keep us blue was never going to be a quick one, Tan must be really annoyed that he has tried everything to get rid of blue and yet at least half the crowd is still wearing it. Tan has given away red scarfs, turned the stadium red and stopped the sale of blue shirts in the club shop and is still nowhere near achieving his red dream. The fact that he has to watch our games being beamed to millions of people without red being the dominant colour is surely embarrassing for him and he cannot sustain this loss of face for much longer. That's all the pro blues have to do is keep wearing the shirt like they are currently doing and the embarrassment of half the stadium in blue whilst the team play in red will take its toll. Even commentators following our games are now remarking on us playing in red with half of the stadium in blue which is something that would not have escaped Tan. It is obvious to many that this situation will persist for the rest of the season unless something is done and Tan will realise this more than anyone so don't be surprised if he tries to compromise by incorporating some of the colour blue into the badge or red kit for next season.Tan has a reputation for getting results but has failed miserably with his red vision and is reminded of this fact every time our games are televised so sit tight, keep wearing blue and don't underestimate the effect you are having.

Am not necessarily 'Pro' anything apart from Cardiff City. I would though perhaps say there is an argument that with us now being in the Premier League and spending untold millions which may, or may not, come back to haunt us one day, that he is in fact 'quite close' to achieving his red dream and most certainly hasn't 'failed miserably' in his red vision whether we like it or not.

Only my opinion.

Sounds good, very good if you are a blue supporter.

The best message we can give is to wear the blue in the stadium. What we need to do is convince those who wear red to wear the blue. Convince being the operative word here.

Well once the loan to equity has happened I can't see how it will come back to haunt us.

I just wonder those who are waiting for this transfer to happen will then get behind the blue.

You make a valid point. I can remember even gwyn posting that when the debt for equity is sorted then we can give Tan what for. What he meant by that is anyone's guess.

....sorry, me being thick, but even if the transfer took place, and Tan was forced out, would someone else have to be in a position to buy his shares?? Not sure how many people would be able to afford that kind of cash.

I think it is very clear what it is mean't.

Basically Tan has made the commitment and we have a bigger bargaining tool.

That is exactly what it means.

There are a lot more rich people than Tan about.

I will never wear red, I'm a Cardiff City and our colours mean a lot to me.

From the bottom of my heart, I urge people to wear blue, because once it's gone, it's gone, and if you accept a colour change so meekly, then other changes will inevitably follow.

This is true, but what about when Tan comes calling for all his money back that he's invested in the squad?
He's given us a lot of money, which we now owe to him, if he walks, will we get someone else in who will
1) Turn us back blue (as an expense - changing seat colours, changing kits, badge ect. ect.)
2) Pay off the money we owe Tan
3) carry on investing in the club/squad

it's a fairly big ask, we'de have to really produce on the pitch to show their investment is justified, and they will get a return on this large investment

Tan has us in his back pocket at the moment. And I don't consider his rebrand to be unsuccessful. You only had to walk with BU last week and see how many pro reds were giving "the big 'un" He has enough people bought into it already, and 10,000 waiting in the wings to take the place of anyone else who walks away from the club. The more that walk away, the more the blue fades.

For the record i've never worn red to a city game, and will continue to support the blue and tradition

I still think more could and should be done, as well as this Annis, wearing blue obviously helps though. :ayatollah:

Never worn a replica, never thought about colours until red Tuesday, worn blue ever since,but...

Based upon the opening post in one full season half the fans have turned red, I am surprised so many have official club red stuff. But in a five year plan half is not a bad return. We have never had a history of masses of replicas like Newcastle or Sunderland. Watching the Liverpool game now, the Kop is not a sea of red.

Due to the promotion into the premier league fans are almost there just to add colour and noise for the match day TV audience, so are unimportant.

If and we know he won't, we changed back to blue, how long and much will it take to eradicate red out of our history. The crowd will look exactly the same.

Agree. Whats turned me against red is the fact blue is just being totaly iradicated from ccfc. I see more and more people with blue each week. We have to wait untill septemeber for the blue kit ffs, my son wants it at the start of the season.

Although the amount of red being worn is sad in my opinion it is not really surprising given the facts. There is obvious pressure on parents to buy the Kids the latest shirt and unfortunately its red. If you then look at Tans plan to stop the sale of blue shirts from the shop and then look at his bribery of giving away red freebies and brainwashing us by turning the stadium red then seeing the amount of red that we do is easily explained. I will stick to my opinion however that the rebrand has not been the success that Tan had hoped for and the fact that every match sees half the stadium in blue is undenyable. :ayatollah:
