A forum for all things Cardiff City

Traditionally we always set up to play more attacking football at home, but this is the premier league and we are the new boys. So far we have played against 2 teams top teams that play possession football (2 of the highest before today).
We have showed that are defensive setup is effective and make us hard if impossible to break down. Now obviously im assuming this is the tactic we will play away nearly every away game this season with a 4-5-1 formation whilst playing on the break, so after the exhibition we've been shown to date whats to say we wont get more away wins than people except us to get. I mean teams will be even more aggressive attacking wise which will leave some real openings for our fast counter attacking.
What im getting at is we've played the away tactics at home so far because of the teams we have played so far, so seeing how well we've done....I genuinely think we can capitalise playing away as teams will be encouraged to attack, attack, attack by the supporters as they will demand 3 points against a promoted team. If anything I think we could take more points away against more established teams that the regulars we'd hope to nick points off away.
I must admit im intrigued but also fearful as to how we set up and perform against a team considered our equals at home for the first time. Cos it will be then that we will see how diverse and capable we truly are.

maybe scratching the surface about our future tactical strategies was a step to far for this forum.

Managers usually don't like changing formations but today we saw MM bring on Nicky Maynard for Kimbo and we really did open up for the last 10 minutes.
At home against Hull/C Palace and the likes I expect MM to play Maynard/Frazer. We might even see Noone make an appearance.
However against any team who are expected to finish 10th or above I expect us to play with caution as we did today, well for this season at least.

ill be interested what tactics we employ against so called lesser teams becausr we are not fluid going forward at all.
No width, no pace, no pattern, no real creativity. We dont look comfortable in position and are turning it over far too easily for my liking.
That said we have played a top team and another good team so dont want to be too harsh.

We have been allocated last seasons 2nd, 6th then 5th for our first 3 games !!!!!!!!
We will probably have to wait until Newcastle to find out what we do at home for the "normal" premier league teams.

Exactly, once we put in a good home performance against a team deemed lesser or equal, a game we are expected to actually win let alone score. Its then I was relax and truly believe we will be comfortable and ease above the relegation zone.

Next up Spurs so we may have to wait until Newcastle for the acid test

I know, I just had a look after my comment. I wouldn't even say Newcastle...Swansea home is the first 'lesser' team.
